We’ve Got 15 Weeks Down!

Dear Spawnie,

I have such exciting news to report this week. Babycenter tells me you now measure about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs about 2 1/2 ounces… About the size of an apple, and APPLE! Can you believe it?!
You’re already busy moving amniotic fluid through your nose and upper respiratory tract, which is helping the air sacs in your lungs develop. Your legs are growing longer than your arms now, and you can move all of your joints and limbs.

Although your eyelids are still fused shut, you can now sense light! Apparently if I were to shine a flashlight at my tummy, you’d be likely to move away from the beam. Don’t worry though, I won’t torture you with that… Maybe not until you start kicking my ribs.

If we did an ultrasound this week I’d probably be able to see what you are… Boy or girl that is, but sadly I won’t know for four more weeks. I know you know but to me, this is torture not knowing. So far all of the tests are telling my boy, so I’m pretty much convinced you’re a boy, but your daddy still thinks you’re a girl.

As far as your mommy goes, I’ve been gaining some weight. We go in for another appointment to hear your little heartbeat on Monday so I’ll also get weighed then and see how much I’ve gained. Last month I had gone down, and back to my origional weight, but this month I’m sure I’ve gained… Maybe even 5 pounds! We’ll see.I’ve had a stuffy nose and cold this week but I guess… Like everything else, that can be seen as a pregnancy symptom too. Another crazy thing that happened this week… You kicked my belly button out!! Just look! I can’t believe it. I hear it only gets bigger as my tummy does. Your daddy is already making “outtie” jokes. You’re going to have to poop on him or something later to get him back for me.
Your daddy and I decided not to get the tests done to see if you may have any genetic problems. We decided we’d love you either way, but we’re sure you’re perfectly healthy.

I have a lot more energy lately and the biggest news of the week… I felt you move around!! It was New Years Eve, and you were about 15 weeks old exactly and you felt like a slow moving bubble in my stomach. I felt you then, two days ago while we were riding in the car, and last night. I think you’re a night owl like mommy. I can’t wait until I feel you every day, and when your daddy can feel you too.

Sleep well little baby, and grow strong. We’re doing our best to get ready for you and we’re really excited to meet you!

Love,

Mommy

38 weeks pregnant… My belly button is still in. Don’t think it’s gonna pop!

Kathryn says:

Awww what a beautiful post! I am 17 weeks and 2 days now and my belly button has not popped out yet. I wonder if it will…? šŸ™‚ Have a great day!

Emmy says:

How fun! I always felt my babies move at night more too.. and it probably wasn’t that they moved more then, it is just we are too busy in the day moving ourselves to notice the baby move.

My belly button has already popped and I am only 13 1/2 weeks.

Chantel says:

My belly button didn’t do anything with my first pregnancy. It looked the same the whole time I was pregnant, and I was HUGE. With my 2nd pregnancy, it looked like it was going to pop, but nothing happend. My 3rd pregnacy, it popped. I thought it was weird to see my belly button poking out. I wasn’t used to it at all. After my son was born, it went back to normal right away.

Betty says:

What a cute little bump!

Ashley says:

What a cute bump you have! Very sweet post.

Oh what a cute little bump!! I’m 18 weeks this Fri, 3rd pregnancy and I’ve never had my belly button pop, but those I know that did went back afterwards. I’m really starting to feel this munchkin move. I have updated pic on my blog. I’m huge! Lol. Miss talking yo you, glad all is well. Also, stuffiness can b a symptom too. I didn’t have it with last 2 pregnancy but have had it this whole time. Hugs!

Mrs. Lopez says:

I’m at 28 weeks and still have an “innie” belly button, but I can now see the bottom part of my former belly piercing! (Lovely, I know!) One thing I noticed during my 20 week sonogram, and am still noticing now, 8 weeks later, is my little one moves a lot more after I use the restroom. I think she’s stretching out and thanking me for making more room in there for her! She doesn’t seem to like my bladder taking up her living space!

CalgaryDaddy says:

Exciting! Spawnie if growing nicely! My wife was due last week…still no baby! “taddy” will likely make its arrival this weekend!

TuTu's Bliss says:

The belly bump pics are cute. After two kids I am all bump and no baby. šŸ™ Stopping in from SITS. Hugs, jen

Genevieve says:

my belly button popped early-ish, went just big and flat by the end of the pregnancy, and then went back in after my baby girl was born. it’s crazy how much the body changes and then how it just seems to all go back together after!!

Alisa says:

Your bump is too cute! Just a few more weeks and you will know the sex of your little one.

Lauren says:

Your belly is so cute!

Nikki says:

Wow, you’re so thin with such a little bump…it’s adorable! By this point in my 1st pregnancy I had gained at least 25 pounds (65 total…UGH!!!) and my belly button has never popped out, not for either pregnancy šŸ™ I love it when belly buttons pop out. I’m surprised you’ve felt the baby already! Usually first timers don’t feel it until the 20th-23rd week! That’s awesome. There’s always a lot more movement at night, they say it’s because during the day you’re rocking the baby to sleep all the time. Maybe, maybe not, but by 8 months, you’ll be begging your baby to sleep at night as you use 16 pillows to try and position your body just right and when you do, you’ll have to pee, in which case your husband will have to push you out of bed and then back to 16 pillows for rearranging all over again. Yay fun.

what a precious baby bump…so cute!

Lynn says:

My belly button popped both times and both times went back to normal. My hubs and I threw a Belly Buttons Back Party for ourselves because I was so happy my button went back to normal!
We never invested in baby monitors because I read somewhere that a neighbor was picking up all the conversation in the next door house through his radio and their baby monitor! Thankfully he told them about it though.

My best, Lynn

I never had the pop belly button. I was on the verge with a full pop with 8+lb baby #2 and then I went into labor. you never would have thought a 41wk 5dy preggo mama would be like awe just one more day. congratulations on the bump. happy pregnancy, toni

My belly button poked out just a smidge but that is all and after my pregnancy it went back to the way it was. I voted for you baby monitor. I love the blog – very very very cute! And I love your pregnancy updates. Very cool. As for the spawnie moving at night – get used to it. Before you know it, you’ll feel a soccer game in there when its time for bed. šŸ™‚ Good luck to you!!!!!

PS. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
