Virtual Baby Shower Finalie: Baby Girl’s Nursery

The room isn’t COMPLETELY done yet, but I’d say about 90% is. I still want to get some vinyl lettering (I’m such a Mormon) for above her bedroom and bathroom doors. I’m not big on “Princess” but I found one I LOVE that says “Princess: Daughter of a Heavenly King” and I think that would be PERFECT! Just gotta find the right size, and once again make a plaque for it.

I need to lower the mobile so she can actually see it, I hope to do that in the next few weeks.
I’m also working on finishing the decorations that go up on this ledge but I’ve made good progress. I’m making a mini-mobile to go in a white birdcage I got to go up there, I’m stringing some more paper butterflies inside it to make it a “butterfly cage.”
I didn’t show it off yet cause I was waiting to get it set up right but finally, here’s the crib bedding I ordered from ArtisticSensations.com.
What do you think? I said if I was having a girl I wouldn’t settle on bedding and I didn’t!

I added the big satin bows to the bumpers because they came with smaller ones than I wanted, but I think the ones I put on look nice! I’m going to sew them on once Baby Girl gets big enough to crawl around and tries to pull them off but for now they’ll do tied on!

I got some extra pink and green fitted sheets at Ikea, four for $16, so I’ll use those when she pukes/pees/poops on these and it’s in the wash. She will be sleeping in a bassinet for a while before she moves to her crib though so they’ll be able to stay nice and clean.
Kim, the owner of Artistic Sensations was way cool in working with me on ordering my bedding. I was very picky and only had one picture for her to go by as far as what I wanted it to look like and they did a good job. It wasn’t free, I saved for this baby, but it’s so worth it!

Now she’s helping me spice up the nursery in adding some artwork to the room to match her bedding! There’s three choices and whatever you vote for is what I get! So help me pick the cutest one! Oh, and if you vote, you’ll also be entered to win a set for your own room! If you have a boy or different taste it’s ok, there’s TONS of choices on their site to choose from, it’s a $155 value!

Here’s the choices for Spawnie’s room.

(Choice 1)

(Choice 2 below)

(Choice 3 below)I really don’t have a preference, and if you’ve been reading awhile you know how indecicive I am! It’s impossible to choose, so since I like them all, and narrowed it down to these, I’ll let you choose!

And to get a more up-close look at the nursery bedding, here’s a video!

Kim, the woman behind Artistic Sensations has always wanted to have her own business with a creative twist and the perfect fit is in the home décor and design arena. “What could be more fun than getting to pick products for your customers that you would pick for yourself or your child’s room and marketing them with passion,” she said. “In addition, I wanted a business where I would be available to my children for their activities, to be there when they woke up and went to sleep. Selling custom bedding, furniture, room décor and furnishings from baby to college age on the Internet is exciting and different every day. Its pretty fulfilling to create children’s dream rooms with unique, customized, high quality products that I would use for my own children.”

She has two sons, two yellow labs (which are also boys) and her husband therefore the “queen of the castle.” She and her family always look forward to the weekends and they try to do a fun activity or dinner together.

You can learn more about her by following @Kidsroomdecor on twitter or by checking out their Artistic Sensations Facebook Store.

{New Mama Advice}

“Smile. Breathe. Take time for yourself too. Everyday is a gift. My kids teach me to view the world with open eyes and treat every day with gratitude and happiness. There is nothing better than loving on your new baby and hugging on them as they get older. Enjoy every minute. Remember how they smell. Smother them with kisses. I know it sounds cliché, but its all so precious. Every single day of it.”

  1. you did an amazing job on that nursery! it looks so beautiful. i love all the special little touches that really take it to the next level, like the little green chair and the decorated ledge. i voted for #2!

  2. The nursery is GORGEOUS!! With all the stuff you were doing, I thought the room would be busy, but it’s really sweet and very well done. Congrats. I like the second option of the wall art sets.

  3. i am not generally a pink fan, but i LOVE the crib bedding! if this baby is a girl, i might have to get something similar 🙂 and i understand the love of vinyl, haha. we have my son’s name, with “child of God” in a small, diff. colored font over it.

  4. My piece of new mommy advice for you is: Let lots of people hold her. Let someone babysit for you (even if it is just for an hour and hard to leave) because you will end up like me if you don’t. I am the only one who can put her to bed and who she wants when she is cranky. I get almost NO break! My little miss has only been left with my husband is almost 2. My husband was deployed for 7 months last year and is gone alot so she is mostly with me 24 hours a day. I wish I would have left her with others more when she was little to get used to it. Now it is hard. She won’t even let my husband put her to sleep. When she had a bottle he could put her to sleep if I was not here. Now she has to bottle and I have to lay down with her to get her to sleep. I love her dearly but sometimes I need a break. I worked until I had her so it is very different staying home with her. I love it, but it is hard. I have a 10 yr old son and he is nothing like my little one. He was calm and I worked FT when he was little. My youngest is a handful and naughty! I hope your little girl is an angel! Can’t wait to see her!

  5. love the nursery!! i voted. i’d probably do something like the pink flower combination she has for the room of the little girl i hope to have someday.

  6. I like the blue, pink, green and purple designs. I’m on my phone so it’s hard to go back and forth and give you the exact names, but that’s what i would choose if I won!

  8. I totally love the Castle Princess Bedding Collection!

My advice is to use a calendar to write down milestones. It’s so easy to forget when she first smiles, rolls over, got her first tooth, walked and she’ll want to know these things later in her life. 🙂

  15. I love the bedding you got! Right now we’re in a 1 bedroom, so my baby girl is just in a pack n’ play. But we’re moving sometime this summer and I plan to go all out decorating a nursery for her! I’m book marking this nursery post so I can refer back to it when the time comes!

  16. I love how Artistic Sensations has items for themed bedrooms. It’s a great one-stop shop for moms who may not have the time to shop around for pieces or those who aren’t as creative as you!! (WOW @ all of your hard work). Spawnie is a lucky girl 🙂

New mommy advice – No one ever told me how hard and painful breastfeeding could be in the beginning. Be prepared that it may be challenging, but stick with it, the rewards are awesome. The closeness that I have felt with my kids during this time is indescribable.

  25. I voted for #2. Even though #1 is really cute. I think that overall you will like the brighter colors as they will tend to stand out rather than blend in. But all three are really nice.

  29. The best parenting advice anyone gave me (and I will pass onto you) was that GRACE (given to yourself, your child, and others) is the best lesson & gift for your child. So give yourself some grace. In turn, your baby will learn that from you and be graceful to those around her. 🙂 What a wonderful gift!

  30. I love reading your blog. It’s inspired me to start one of my own (mommymaking.blogspot.com). I appreciate the honesty because there is so much for me to learn! Beautiful babies room! She’ll love it! I really like: Ripe Banana, Red Rose, Apple Tree and Coral Poppy!

    Flamingo Pink Bloom
    Ripe Banana
    Yellow Hibiscus
    Flamingo Pink

  33. I also like the candy stripe bedding on their site.

LOVE your nursery. What a lucky little girl. I voted #1 because it seems like softer colors like your nursery and because the colors seem to match better.

    Thanks so much! pamelashockley(AT)netscape(DOT)net

  36. I voted, but there seems to be an error going on! I like number one. It’s all girl, and I love it!
I like the Cupcakes Wall Stickers. However, I think that might make me crave cupcakes all the time. This is bad.

  37. I love the nursey a lot. It is obvious you have put so much time and thought into it. It is so beautiful. Congrats! I voted Also.
