The Ultimate Disney Christmas Movie Checklist on Disney+
If you know me, you know my family and I are Disney super fans! From Pixar to Mickey, there isn’t a single movie we won’t sit down and watch together as a family. This Ultimate Disney Christmas Movie Checklist on Disney+ will turn you in a Disney super fan too if you aren’t already!
In last week’s blog, I talked about how I was hoping to turn my family’s weekly movie night into a tradition. Well we’re going to keep with the film traditions right through the festive season, curling up to watch our favorite holiday movies on Disney+.
And to keep on top of it, I’ve created this handy checklist to tick off each family-friendly holiday movie as you see it! Feel free to print off your own copy which you can share with your Disney-obsessed friends and family. I’ve also left links to all my previous movie checklists at the end of this post so if you’re in the mood to check all the Disney Live Action movies off your list or want to dive deep in the the Marvel universe, you can do so with a handy dandy checklist!
Here are all the movies included on my Ultimate Disney Christmas Movie Checklist on Disney+:
12 Dates of Christmas
A cracking festive romcom. On Christmas Eve, Kate goes on a blind date with the handsome Miles. Is he the man of her dreams? The next day, Kate wakes up and is stuck in a time loop. She has to repeat the date again and again until she learns to open herself up to the world.
A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Classic. Who doesn’t love Charles Dickens’ story of Ebenezer Scrooge changing his mindset and fully embracing the Christmas spirit. The 2009 version has an all-star cast, with Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman and Colin Farrell all taking the spotlight.
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas
Celebrate the holidays with the whole family with this feature inspired by the Disney Classic! Mrs. Potts recounts an exciting tale of an Christmas on the brink as a scheming composer is desperate to keep Belle and the Beast apart.
Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
What is at the bottom of that wardrobe? After four siblings stumble into an enchanted world whilst playing hide and seek, they spark a new era of adventure. A brilliant adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ classic that’ll have your kids enchanted for weeks. I’ve included this one because it’s like a winter wonderful and full of hope and spirit that reminds me of the holiday season!
Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas!
A brilliant tale of making it home for Christmas. It’s funny, wholesome and sweet. And a movie that’ll bring your family closer together as you snuggle up to watch it on your couch.
Home Alone
What can I say about Home Alone that hasn’t already been said before? It is AMAZING. If you and your family haven’t already watched this 90s classic, then read no further and start streaming now. This is one of our favorite holiday movies.
Home Alone 2
See above. The same goes for Home Alone 2. It’s not often a sequel matches the original. Lost in New York comes pretty close. Another must see.
I’ll Be Home for Christmas
I love this hilarious comedy classic. Self-centered college student Jake is desperate to make it home for Christmas not to see his family but to win his Dad’s vintage car. A comedy of errors ensues on his journey, and along the way, he discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special
It’s the most wonderful time of the year on Kashyyyk, and LEGO Star Wars fans are invited to journey back to Chewbacca’s homeworld for a Wookiee-sized celebration of the galaxy’s most cheerful and magical holiday — Life Day! Released in November this year, this movie is an instant must-see for any Lego, Star Wars and Lego Star Wars fans.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol
An all-time Christmas classic gets a Disney twist. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and all their pals are involved in this funny, wholesome film. And, at only 26 minutes run time, it’ll hold the attention of even the littlest of viewers. Lee Lee loved it!
Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
And once Mickey’s Christmas Carol has been enjoyed by all, it’s time to move on to a whole new world of festive tales and adventures. Each main Disney character recalls their own festive story in a unique, funny and seasonal way.
Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas
Mickey and pals get a visit from Santa who shows the team the full meaning of Christmas. This time, it’s stubborn old Donald who’s lacking the Christmas spirit. But some festive joy soon gets him excited for the holiday.
Miracle on 34th Street
That’s right, the ULTIMATE Christmas movie is on Disney+. It may be in black and white, and parts feel very – well – 1947, but this Best Picture winning feature has it all. Every Christmas movie cliche and tradition spawns from this movie. I can’t wait to see what my kids make of it.
Noelle
A brilliant play on the old Christmas trope, this time it’s Santa’s daughter, Noelle, who has to save the day and find her brother, Nick, who’s supposed to be taking over with the present deliveries this season. An important message for any young daughters but also sons as well. Plus, the reindeer in this movie are the cutest!
Olaf’s Frozen Adventure
A fine short film for any Frozen fans. Snowman Olaf is on a mission to round up the very best holiday traditions to make Anna and Elsa’s Christmas unforgettable. It’s hilarious and wholesome and a perfect family treat.
One Magic Christmas
A movie to share with the ones you love, a young mother rediscovers the power of Christmas thanks to the unshakeable faith of her six-year-old daughter. It’s full of Christmas stereotypes including its own guardian angel. This one will touch your heart.
Prep & Landing
Another short film that’s perfect to turn on for a quick holiday boost. A high-tech team of elves from an elite unit known as `Prep & Landing’ ensures homes around the world are prepared for Santa’s visit. But when an old veteran and an idealistic rookie are paired up, chaos ensues, and the pair have to save Christmas before it’s too late!
Prep & Landing: Naughty or Nice
A hilarious follow-up to the short movie above! This time the Elf team must race to recover precious, classified North Pole technology which has fallen into the wrong hands.
Richie Rich’s Christmas Wish
Another gem from the 1990s, after Richie Rich is blamed for a sleigh crash caused by his mischievous cousin, Richie wishes that he didn’t exist. When a wishing machine invented by Professor Keenbean hears Richie’s wish, it grants it magically. Cue festive chaos and important messages.
The Santa Clause
This is a Christmas classic! If you haven’t seen this one yet, what are you waiting for? When a man inadvertently makes Santa fall off of his roof on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place.
Santa Clause 2
A fab sequel with an added spice of romance so this movie of course was included on the Ultimate Disney Christmas Movie Checklist on Disney+. Scott Calvin’s humble reign of being Santa could be over if he can’t find a Mrs Clause.
Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause
Who doesn’t love a Christmas trilogy? This time Scott Calvin has to save both his family, and the festive season from the terrifying Jack Frost.
Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups
Things are a little woof as the Christmas spirit starts to disappear. Thankfully, mischievous Santa Pups – Hope, Jingle, Charity and Noble – are on hand to save the day.
Snowglobe
A great family favorite, a young woman finds a whole world hidden in a Christmas snow globe. Something a little different for your Christmas movie marathon.
The Mistle-Tones
A Disney musical starring Tia Mowry? Yes please. It’s a movie about Holly, set to audition for a spot in The Snow Belles but when it doesn’t turn out like she expects, she forms her own group to challenge their rivals to a Christmas Eve sing-off.
The Muppet Christmas Carol
One of the best adaptations of the classic Christmas tale. It’s no surprise that movie theaters before COVID-19 showed this on the big screen during the run up to every Christmas. Michael Caine joins Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and all for an hilarious musical comedy.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Ok so is this a Halloween movie or a Holiday movie in your book? Either way, it’s a great fil to add some spook to the festive season with Tim Burton’s wonderful The Nightmare Before Christmas. Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion. This family-friendly horror is rated PG and in my opinion is perfect for those aged 6 and over.
The Ultimate Christmas Present
A humble Christmas movie with an important message. After a little girl steals a weather machine from Santa, she attempts to create a snow day to get off school. Instead she causes a giant snowstorm which looks like it’ll never end!
‘Twas the Night
Another funny tale suitable for the whole family. A mischievous 14-year-old boy and his irresponsible uncle almost ruin Christmas when they decide to take Santa’s new high-tech sleigh for a joyride.
Winnie the Pooh A Very Merry Pooh Christmas
And finally, one for the little ones. Join Winnie the Pooh on a wonderful holiday adventure.
