Do your kids like water slides? We’ve been going to @BahnNewBraunfels for years, and each visit the kids get a little more adventurous. This year Ty and Jayda tried individual water slides and Lee Lee finally took on a kiddie water slide by herself. It’s already so hot this year and this is such a fun way to cool off and make some summer
memories!

Ty has been wanting to play team sports for years

Ty has been wanting to play team sports for years but for one reason or another we kept putting it off. Then he told us he wanted to try flag football and I missed spring signups 🤦🏾‍♀️. So here we are in 100 degrees just getting started. But does Ty mind? No!

Yesterday was his first practice and today was his first game. So the whole family came out to cheer him on (though Lee Lee was unimpressed). Their team played hard and Ty even scored two touchdowns! As expected he took it VERY seriously, and kept score even when the rest of us weren’t. But we kept reiterating how important it is to have FUN. And how it was so fun for us to watch him play.

After the game Ty asked why kids can’t get mad at kid football but grownups can get mad at grownup football 😆. Touché kid. Touché.

A little over 55 years ago our marriage would have been illegal in many states. It doesn’t seem that long ago, and within the walls of our home our kids feel like there’s nothing strange about us (there’s plenty strange, but it’s not because we are an interracial family).

55 years ago the Supreme Court overturned laws deeming interracial marriage illegal in our country. That is why we celebrate #LovingDay. Thanks to the Loving family (fitting name right?). There were 16 states where our family would not have been free to live as we do today. It seems a little crazy that it wasn’t really that long ago, but now and then I get glimpses of people who still hate what our family looks like. It used to bother me, but now I just feel bad for people. People who choose to look at others and hate because of skin color, a work uniform, political party, gender, or religion.

I will never understand why people choose to hate complete strangers based on a first glance. Or why people think there is only one right way to choose to live or love. Or why people assume an entire group of people can be horrible because of their race, religion, sexuality or profession.
We choose love. I hope you will too.

I understand being a middle child is not easy. Esp

I understand being a middle child is not easy. Especially when you're sandwiched between two VERY demanding sisters. Ty is my most chill kid. He enjoys having some space to himself. Sometimes I'll look outside and see him exercising or riding his bike on the driveway all on his own.

When I told my husband I wanted to go to a Star Wa

When I told my husband I wanted to go to a Star Wars Celebration he was like “Why??” Then I informed him Carl Weathers from Rocky I-IV would be there and he changed his tune (keep swiping to see when I got a photo signed for him!)

What a week. From frantically texting my mom all of the Star Wars updates, to sneak peeks, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi premiere. To running into Jon Favreau (😱 keep swiping for that too), and meeting Carl Weathers! On top of that I got to spend some time with lovely people, go to Disneyland on Star Wars Night. Got to catch up with some old friends, meet some new and get lost wandering in a galaxy far away.

I’m slowly converting my family to Star Wars fandom but it’s SLOW going. Does your family watch it together?
