I came out of running retirement for this.

For the past few years I’ve watched my husband do this workout called “The Murph” on Memorial Day in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy. It includes running a mile, then doing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats, followed by another 1-mile run to finish. Some people even do it with a weighted vest.

I’d never been interested in joining him but this year I decided to (I did a modified version). Last night we watched Lone Survivor and it broke my heart and motivated me to do something hard in remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice of our military men and women. Because freedom isn’t free ❤️

MAD PROPS to the beauty video girls cause this ain’t it for me.

I am late to everything. Including the @flutterhabit #fhareacodeschallenge where the owner @thekaseyjackson challenged us to learn this rap and put the lashes on in record time. The lashes weren’t a problem for me but positioning my camera right, memorizing the words, all while tryna look cute?! That ish was no joke! Still, Jayda was impressed so I call that a win. And I still wanted to post it cause I just added my fresh set of lashes for the weekend (going to see The Little Mermaid in 4DX!) through next week. I’m not much of a makeup girl but lashes, and a lil bit of lip color goes a long way. A lot of people have asked me about these and I promise they’re SO easy to use.

My favorites are the Weightless no 3 (what I’m wearing), the Originals and the Happy Medium.

Have you ever tried lash extensions? Have you ever tried rapping while getting ready? I can only recommend one of these things.

Then and Now ➡️. Jayda has been my Disney movie ride or die since she was a baby (seriously, I took her to movies during maternity leave). We took these photos for my blog when Jayda was in preschool for our own biracial princess series. Little did we know when we took these photos that we’d have another Ariel that looks like her! The Little Mermaid hits the big screen today and Jayda LOVED it, calling it the best Disney live-action remake EVER! During the movie she even leaned over and whispered to me that she wants to do another Ariel photoshoot with Ariel’s new dress 🥹

The other day Lee Lee kept asking me to play a Tay

The other day Lee Lee kept asking me to play a Taylor Swift song but I wasn’t sure which one.

“ME!” I heard. So I asked Alexa to play “Me” by Taylor Swift and was pleasently surprised when she did, and not only that, it was a popular song I recognized. But Lee Lee wasn’t happy.

“NO! She said, exasperated and frustrated by my lousy Taylor Swift knowledge. “Not ME! MEAN. Like, ‘he’s being mean!’”

I hadn’t heard of that song but I asked Alexa and she obliged again with yet another Taylor Swift song.

The next day I overheard her singing away on her guitar and recorded this thinking she made up the song (she does this). Then Jayda told me it’s a Taylor Swift song. That same one again. Apparently it’s her favorite. Now the whole family has it stuck in our heads.

When I was four years old I dressed as Ariel for H

When I was four years old I dressed as Ariel for Halloween. The mermaid costume I wore was complete with a “nude” bodysuit that was far from MY shade of nude. Did I care? Heck no. I had the red wig and the fin and nobody was about to tell me I wasn’t Ariel.

Fast forward 33 years. Ariel is still one of my favorite princesses. And seeing @HalleBailey in the role was incredible.

Ya’ll all know I’m over the Disney remakes. But The Little Mermaid understood the assignment. Wonderful forum of old vs new with nods to the OG and new surprises. The girls give it two thumbs up and we can’t wait to see it again.
