Posts Tagged ‘30 things my kids should know about me’

I’m constantly embarrassing myself so it was only a little challenging thinking of what to share in my journal for my kids. These two definitely take the cake though.

The email I accidentally sent to my new boss was sent to my internship coordinator right after I found out I got the job. I was horrified. Luckily, he was a really nice guy and laughed it off.

During my first pregnancy I went to work wearing two totally different shoes. I blogged about it here.

Today’s pages for my book aren’t too exciting but you win some, you lose some. I’m LOVING reading and seeing your posts. I’ve been trying to visit everyone’s blog and comment (turn off capatcha!!).

Don’t forget to link up on this post if you’re playing along. There you’ll also find the graphics to use in Photoshop or another editing program to design pages for a printable book. Erica just finished up and sent me the week 3 designs. There’s a preview below, and you can download them here.

This was Day 10 of the installment of 30 Things my kids should know about me.

I imagine “mother” must be on the top of almost everyone’s list. That’s made me think a lot this mother’s day about how I can do my best at being a good influence and role model for my son and daughter.

I actually came up with well more than 10 people so I tried to squeeze some together in groups, and I still came up with 11. Some of these people probably don’t even realize they had such an influence on me.

So in no particular order…

This was Day 9 of the installment of 30 Things my kids should know about me.

This page is probably my favorite so far. I really liked the look of chalkboard scrapbook pages so I ran with it, downloading some new brushes and fonts. I thought pictures were taking up tons of space on my computer but soon, they’re gonna be fighting scrapbook embellishments over gigabytes.

This was Day 8 of the installment of 30 Things my kids should know about me.

My dream job

I pretty much suck at traditional paper scrapbooking, and I’m not much better at this digital scrapbook thing, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. Maybe by the end of the 30 days my pages will look decent. Erica‘s work is giving me great inspiration, she’s great and links all of the cool embellishments and papers she uses and I’ve been checking out your links too. I love what Andrea has been up to  (kudos for staying on top of them!) I got some inspiration from one of her pages for mine today.

Make sure you add your link to this blog post (linky at the bottom) so we can blog hop!

This was Day 7 of the installment of 30 Things my kids should know about me.

Things that make me most happy, that’s pretty easy…

1. My family: Especially my children. Seeing them happy makes me incredibly happy.

2. Being productive: I love getting things done and feeling like I’ve accomplished a lot. I’d rather be productive than sleep.

3. Surprises: I love being surprised! Whether its finding out if I’m having a boy or girl (in the ultrasound room, or delivery room) or getting a package I forgot I ordered, I love them.

4. Alone time with my husband: I love catching up one on-one and remembering how much fun we’ve had over the years.

5. Taking great pictures: I feel so good when I capture a great moment on camera. I love that I’m preserving so many memories and I get so happy (and sad) when I look back over them.

Erica is making me feel like a dork with my lame pages compared to her awesome ones, but I’m starting to get the hang of digital scrapbooking (kinda). She sent me some more pretty graphics for week two to share. Download and have fun! Here’s a preview:If you’re doing these too, I’ve now added a linky to the original post so we can visit other bloggers doing the project. So go add your links!

This was Day 5 of the installment of 30 Things my kids should know about me.

30 Things my kids should know about me Day 4: List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self.

I wasn’t 16 in either of these photos but it was the best I could find on Facebook.

 10. In a couple of years you’re going to college. Enjoy it.
9. I know you want to be a newscaster but perhaps you should seriously consider engineering.
8. Keep in touch with your closest friends and continue to build lasting relationships with people you trust.
7.  High school boyfriends are overrated.
6. Stay focused, avoid distractions.
5. You’re going to love being a mother even more than you can imagine.
4. Don’t buy a house before 2008.
3. Buy Apple stock.
2. Take cooking lessons asap, you’ll regret it if you don’t.
1. Don’t worry, everything is going to be ok.

What would you tell your 16-year-old self?

Big thanks to Erica again for the fun graphics for these prompts. Find the entire list of prompts and download link here.

Here’s the graphic version of day 3 of my project. Remember, if you want to join in you can read all 30 prompts and download the graphics here.

I’m back on my 30 Things my kids should know about me bandwagon, and with the help of Erica from Crash Notes, we now have beautiful templates to use while working on it. Want to join along? You can download the free graphics here.

I published my 3 legitimate fears a few months ago but here’s an example of what I did using the graphics on an 8x8in spread and per Erica’s suggestion 8×8 templates from here. That, along with my amateur Photoshop skills helped me turn this post in to this:
