Shopping Spree: The Best Way to Make Up for Shots

|

No one likes getting shots. Lord knows I didn’t. Heck, I still don’t. So when Lil’ J had her first round last week I about lost it. Ok, actually I DID lose it. She freaked out too but had forgotten about it a couple minutes later. I on the other hand, couldn’t get the memory out of my head. She was laughing and cooing one second, the next she was turning red and screaming her head off. And there I was holding her arms down. I felt like a jerk. I told myself I wouldn’t, but I cried too.

I promised her I’d make up for it and I did. Right after the appointment with the mean nurse we went to Old Navy’s baby sale and had a little shopping spree. We scored BIG!

old navy sale

Two jean skirts, a pair of pants, a sweater dress, two bohemian-style dresses, a pair of sparkly moccasins, a beautiful long sweater, and a jean jacket that she can wear with it all–All for $117!

At first I had put the pants back cause I thought the total was going to be closer to $200 but when the lady rang me up and the total only came to $107 I went back to get the adorable brown pants (and I think the FIRST pair of pants I’ve bought for her).

Everything I bought (minus the jacket) was on sale for $5-15!

Sadly, Lil’ J slept through all the shopping, but she was happy to take part in a photoshoot when she was feeling herself again. I am so blessed to have this little angel in my life!

Old Navy sweater dress

She measured 95th percentile for height and 90th for weight so I got almost everything in 6-12 month size so she can wear it longer. The dresses I think she’ll be able to wear as shirts even when she’s older.

If you ask me, she looks good in everything.

What do you think? Like her fall wardrobe?

  16. LOVE Old Navy! They’re the only pants my skinny 15 month old can fit in these days. Sadly, he’s still in that same size you bought for Lil’ J… 6-12 months, although they’re starting to get a little short. Would LOVE to win too, because that much at Old Navy sure buys a LOT of stuff!

  17. Oh, those outfits are *almost* enough to make me wish I was having a girl. . .but not really; I’m having a blast stockpiling little boy clothes so our man will look like his daddy =)

  18. She is SO adorable!!!!
I particularly LOVE that sweater that she is wearing in the 1st pic.

Also, what an awesome idea to think about the dresses fitting as shirts as she gets older!

  19. There is nothing wrong with finding the littlest excuse to go shopping, and I think Lil J was definitely the best kind of excuse! The outfits are adorable shopping for little girls is always so rewarding. My daughter is 10 and I still shop so we can match!! (Even color coordinate with my baby boy too!) LOL

  20. I cried at my son’s first shot appointment too. It was horrible! The nurse gave him the shot, he cried, then I cried. The poor nurse didn’t know what to do! lol. Luckily I’d brought my Mom along so someone was still calm while we were both crying! It gets better I swear! The four month shots are sooooo much easier!

  21. i also follow through google reader.

I almost cried at my daughter’s 1st shots appointmment. She’s 3.5 months now and it’s almost time for her 4 month shots; sigh…

  22. Omgosh, my heart is melting! Your daughter is absolutely darling!

  24. Aww Lil J looks just like you! I love her wardrobe. My baby girl needs a new wardrobe for fall/winter. We went to Once Upon A Child to do the whole reused thing, and found some great finds. But of course She needs some more things, wasn’t able to find shoes, and some other things.

  25. These are super cute! I haven’t been in an Old Navy recently, but these outfits look much nicer than I remember. I love the purple one she’s wearing in the Bumbo!

I hope that you and daddy aredoing good and adjusting very well, which it seems to me you are. Congrats on being a fantastic mommy!

  29. My GOODNESS she’s so cute in her new outfits!! I just bought the Old Navy sweater dress in gray for my 3-year-old, along with plum leggings, black leggings, a hot pink winter jacket, cream beanie, pink boots, and striped tunic. I got some smokin’ deals plus used coupons to snag her fall/winter wardrobe. 🙂 Looks like we had the same craving for Old Navy’s adorable baby girl clothes this week, lol!!!

  30. Those are just too cute! I recently got to go to Kohls and get my 2-year-old some clothes and it’s definitely a shopping high. 🙂 I took some photos as well.

And I feel the same thing when getting Emma shots – so sad! I swear one of the reasons Emma cries is because it’s just scary being held down and the nurse’s voice changes as she apologizes… last time I gave Emma a chocolate right before and she didn’t cry at all! I was shocked. I had heard that sugar before might help. I don’t think you can do that, though. LOL I’m sure you nurse before though. 🙂

  31. Omg, so precious! I love her little outfits, cozy and perfect for the fall/winter. Thanks so much for the giveaway too!

  32. i almost cried at my daughter’s first shots too. and her second. we go for her third this friday and this time my hubby can’t go with me and i am not excited to go on my own… 🙁

  33. What adorable pictures! Yes, shots are traumatic – I think almost more for Moms than the babies, because the babies cry and then soon forget. Our hearts hurt and we don’t forget!

  34. Work it Lil J! That video was too cute! The entire fall wardrobe is darling. I must say those little brown boots are so stinkin’ cute! You made the shots worth it. 😉

  35. i am soooo hoping to win this gift cert. Most of my casual sort clothes I am wearing now are from before I had my daughter…my first daughter…yeah that was 9 years ago. Thats how sad my wardrobe is. Anything I have that I have gotton after that is from garage sales, second hand. Sad sad wardrobe!

  36. Those pictures of your little one are absolutely adorable. I would have never known she just got her shots. Poor little thing, but it definitely goes to show that shopping cures all (and Old Navy shopping can cure absolutely anything)!

  37. Love the Old navy deals!!! My husband thought I would not be bad about clothes because we have a boy. . . lol he was soooo wrong.
Lil j’ is getting so big my little shrimp is just filling out his newborn clothes.

  39. With three kids under the age of three (10-mos-old twins and a 2-yr-old), I could put a gift card to good use! And, if that doesn’t work out, maybe we could set up a date for one of my boys for when our kids are older. She’s a doll!

    LOVE the photoshoot!

Thanks for the giveaway entry 🙂

  41. I remember seeing this one little swaddling device that held the baby and was wrapped around the mother’s forehead. Anybody know what I’m talking about? 😀
