Ariel is Black and People are MAD but Here’s Why We are Here for it!
We are finally getting our 2nd Black Disney Princess. A black Ariel! And this time we may actually get to see her face on the screen for more than 22 minutes (Tiana, I got you!).

I joke about Lee Lee being my wild child (she is) but the thing is, she keeps our lives exciting. She’s so determined and often stubborn, and she remembers conversations no one realizes she was listening to. Right now she goes to nature school a few days a week. And Jayda and Ty are involved in their own sports activities. We aren’t on the go as much as we were a couple of years ago, but things are definitely picking up again. So that means Lee Lee and her wild and determined personality are along for the ride with her new Chicco OneFit™ ClearTex ® All-in-One Car Seat, which can make for some pretty entertaining trips.
Millennials, grab your Tamagotchis, Nano pets, and get ready to Bop along with Pixar’s Turning Red. It’s a GenY2K paradise with so many throwbacks from the glory year that was 2002. I wasn’t expecting much going in, and this is the first Pixar movie I can remember them not being excited to watch. Now? They’ve all watched it multiple times and 2 out of 3 of my kids can’t wait to watch it exclusively streaming on Disney+ March 11th. So let’s get into it in this spoiler-free review.
There’s a lot to love, and to avoid any spoilers I’m going to keep this very high level for now. The animation style was just as beautiful as most Pixar movies, but infused with a familiar fun anime style. Avid Sailor Moon fans will recognize the often exaggerated emotions and features. My 3-year-old daughter Lee Lee loves some kiddie anime and I think that’s one reason she loves Turning Red so much. It’s hard not to get pulled into what the characters are feeling.
It’s August which means it’s Black Business Month. Small businesses are one thing that we love to support. And many of us understand how important it is to shop small. For many reasons, Black-owned businesses are hard to come by. And if you do discover one, many don’t survive for the long haul due to inhibiting factors. Black Business Month is a great time to celebrate and shine a light on Black-owned businesses that are changing the game!
I love books! Books can teach us so many things, open our eyes to new worlds and new prospective and it’s a feeling I love sharing with my kids too.
Looking for a spoiler-free Entanto review to help you decide if the family movie is worth seeing in theaters? This review will help you decide.
Planning a family movie night is not as simple as you may think, especially if you have a larger family! Choosing the right snacks, location, and even theme can be challenging when you have to consider everyone’s preferences. So many decisions! The movie choice, however, is the star of the night. Get it wrong and what should have been a fun bonding experience turns into an excruciating dull few hours (I speak from experience).
You know movies are my thing, so it’s a big deal to be reviewing a TV show today. But I was intrigued by Karma’s World as soon as I saw the “coming soon” poster on Netflix. Diverse representation is a big deal to me and seeing a little Black girl on the cover with a big beautiful curly fro? Sold!
Have you ever found yourself looking for Black representation in books with black main characters? You might love this list and have fun going through it with your family. It may not be Black History Month, but we don’t need that excuse to celebrate representation year-round. I love finding Black representation in books, more specifically…
When Jayda was 3, about once a week I let her stay up late. She’d climb into my bed while I did her hair. I’d make popcorn and pop in a Disney DVD. This is a big reason she can now speak in movie quotes. And why she wound up being the co-dreamer and creator of this new project.

It’s nearly over. We’ve almost seen the back of 2020. And although this crazy year has thrown surprise after surprise at us, there were still plenty of moments of magic.
Cherish365 is all about appreciating each and every day and not missing the powerful moments as they pass you by so when I flick through my photo album on my phone or reread the blogs I’ve written this year, I’ve come to realize something. Even in a pandemic – 2020 hosted some remarkable achievements for my family and me. And I want to remember and celebrate them!
So, here are my top 10 favorite moment of 2020 that made me happy this year:
