Lamaze Mom To Be Gift Set

On my MomTV show earlier this week I talked about my Top 10 Pregnancy Must-Haves! I’m still working on a post-version for my blog, hopefully I’ll get it up this week. But one of the things I think every pregnant woman asks and/or thinks about is stretch mark cream!

I’ve been told using things like coco butter and shea butter help prevent stretch marks, but water intake does too!

I’m very very prone to stretch marks… In fact I think it’s almost a lost cause for me, and I expect to get them on my belly. I grew quickly when I was younger and have them on my knees, I have them on my thighs, even my booty… So why should by tummy be lucky?

Now, when I was looking into birthing classes and techniques of course Lamaze was one of the first ones to come up and come to mind… But who knew they also made toys, and mom to be products? I didn’t!
The Lamaze organization is dedicated to supporting and promoting healthy birth practices for women. I’ve loved looking at their site and watching their labor videos, and reading about their healthy birth practices. I have a long way to go before labor, but I’m sure I’ll be learning, and sharing, a lot more about them!

They sent me the Mom to Be Gift Set, and it was one of the first “pregnancy” things I got! I’ve loved using the lotions and belly creams and I have to honestly say… They smell soooo good! I have another shea butter product from another company and the Lamaze one smells so much better! It’s such a fun way to pamper myself!

Here’s a little more info about what’s in it:

A perfect gift for expecting moms, the Mom-to-Be Gift Set contains 2oz. containers of the following hypoallergenic Lamaze Body Care items: Lamaze Belly Butter – exceptional for keeping the skin elastic and stretchy during pregnancy, as well as soothing itchy bellies. Key ingredients include organic and natural cocoa butter, and shea butter.

Lamaze Belly Cream – contains a variety of healing and emulsifying ingredients clinically proven to help minimize the appearance of stretch marks and scarring.

Lamaze Moisturizing Body Cream – a luscious alternative to regular lotion with a thick, creamy feel that leaves skin incredibly moist yet won’t leave the skin greasy

Lamaze Cooling Leg and Foot Cream – provides a revitalizing foot and leg massage, cooling and moisturizing with thick, penetrating cream.

Lamaze Sitz Bath Powder – this healing bath powder will foam to a wonderful lather while helping soothe and heal your body after pregnancy.

So… I’m prone to stretch marks but I’m trying to use this religiously, and hoping maybe if I work hard to prevent these I can have one part of my body scar-free!

Like the gift set? You can BUY it for $25 (actually it’s on sale right now for $19.99) from Learning Curve. It’s a great baby shower gift!

  1. Let me know if it works for you! I of course have always had stretch marks everywhere (part of Marfan) and during pregnancy mine were deep, like, I can run my finger over the ridges. They have faded fast though. My OB said a lot of stretch marks is genetic and that cream doesn’t help and the cream I used didn’t, but I also didn’t do it religiously nor did I use this brand. If this works for you I’m buying it next time around!!!

Here’s my pregnancy tip: Get compression socks when your feet start to swell. Your feet actually get little stretch marks if the swelling is bad, and those don’t necessarily go away. The compression socks help, and they help keep you in your shoes too. I think you can get them at Target. 🙂

  2. I follow your blog! The only advice I have is pretty much stuff you already know. But for sure do the pregnancy yoga!
Oh, one other thing I did for my baby was put headphones on my tummy and play classical and soft music to my tummy. I don’t know if it affected my baby at all, but I like to think she could hear it and enjoyed listening to it!

  3. well I used cream all during my pregnacy and only used it on my tummy. I only got stretch marks all on my boobs and butt. wish I would have used it there. so spread the love all over your body and hopefully you won’t get so many!

My tip? Don’t get carried away with the “eating for two”! I have been eating a bit too much lately, and I just blew up overnight!

  5. I like ALL the healthy labor tips, but the one that I think I like most is:
Healthy Birth Practice 2: Walk, move around and change positions throughout labor

  6. I follow now! Been a while since I got on and soooo happy you are preggo!!! Yay!!! I’m 20 weeks…so just a little ahead…but this is my 2nd.

My healthy preggo tip would be to drink lots of water and eat nuts, raisins and make sure you keep active…makes your delivery easier 🙂

  7. Hi! I follow your blog. And my tip is to get on Amazon.com and order all the books by Aviva Jill Romm. She’s amazing. I’m reading her book on having a healthy, natural pregnancy and it’s the best (I’m due with my 2nd in 3 months)! Even if you’re happy with your ob (like I am), it is a MUST READ! Thanks! islandgirlalwayz@yahoo.com

  8. I think that the Lamaze Adivce that popped out at me most was #4: Avoid Interventions That Are Not Medically Necessary. I had soooo many interventions that I was unhappy with during my first baby’s birth. In my defense, I had no clue what was up or down. But I’m educating myself more now and will take better steps towards preventing everything bad that happened on the first go around! Here’s to happy, healthy, intervention-free births in 2010!!! Thanks! islandgirlalwayz@yahoo.com

  9. I’m a follower. A pregnant momma should always have a healthy snack or two nearby and break up large meals into smaller ones to minimize nausea and tiredness.

  10. My favorite of the 6 Lamaze Healthy Birth Practices is “Let Labor Should Begin on Its Own.” Some babies need a little more time to cook, even though many new moms get nervous that the little one will never leave the womb! For my first, I had to be induced with pitocin (water broke, no contractions) and it awful! Why anyone would voluntarily choose to be induced is beyond me!

My advice, for what it’s worth, is to eat well and avoid the nasties… parabens, BPA, random chemicals in food and products that can cause problems for you and baby! Oh and a great book to read if you’ve got the time is Slow Death by Rubber Duck.

  12. I follow you on GFC:) My advice: Take everyone’s “birthing stories” with a grain of salt. Sometimes they tend to be over exaggerated- kind of like fisherman and their tall tales:) Your labor & delivery will be fine-just relax & be positive:)

  13. I think this Lamaze Healthy Birth Practice is the best:

  15. I visited the website for the magazine and I learned about all the different positions. I was wondering what all the differences were. I think I like sitting the best!

  16. and I learned this from the Lamaze site: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) is used to evaluate uterine contractions and the baby’s response to them.

  17. I am following your blog via google friend finder!
Healthy pregnancy tip: water water water water water! I’ve been blessed to actually CRAVE ice water with all 3 of my pregnancies, and I know not everyone loves it like I do. But I firmly believe it has helped me out SO much!

  18. I already follow 🙂
My tips is to rest when you need to rest. Don’t over do it, you will just end up feeling miserable later.

    2. My preganancy tip: When I was pregnant toothpaste made me nauseated, so I switched to Close Up toothpaste which didn’t have the minty taste that made me sick.
Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy.

  20. My favorite tip is: Healthy Birth Practice 2: Walk, move around and change positions throughout labor.
I gave birth in the hospital and they didn’t want me to move around. I got so tired of their sass that I called them in and reminded them that I was floating this boat. Don’t let anyone cow you into submission when you know what your body needs to do.

  21. I commented on the video about step 6 of 6 regarding the importance of holding your baby skin to skin after birthing.

  22. I checked out Lamaze Pregnance Birth & Beyond magazine and found it interesting how empowering their philosophy is. I gave birth at an Army hospital. Definitely NOT an empowering environment. 🙁

Try to get rest when your body tells you! My mom would push herself to the ax and end up sleeping it off the next day! JUst listen CLOSELY to UR body! Ur the only one that can feel it!! 🙂

  25. I follow your blog. My biggest tip is to make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. It helps with high blood pressure, hunger cravings, all kinds of things.

  26. I am following your blog. My best pregnancy advice is: not to drink too much caffine. I have one son who is calm and mellow (I had one can of Pepsi a week when I was pregnant). The second son I had a Mtn. Dew once a day (this child is so hyper he climbs the walls after school). Thank you

  27. a good tip I can give you is to eat lots of protein, this will help with heartburn. Also ditch the tums and grab a handful of almonds instead, works just as well and good for the baby!
