It’s a Good Time for My Kids to Go Rogue

If you ask my husband how long I’ve been a Star Wars fan he’d laugh and tell you I jumped on this bandwagon recently. But he didn’t know the love my mom instilled in us when we were kids.

Maybe it’s one of those things I loved because she loved. Even still when I see a new trailer or toy, I have to ask her if she’s seen it.

When I first saw the trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story I sent it straight to my mom and asked her if she knew what it was. She was just as clueless as I was, and as everyone else. Come to find out it’s an entirely new series to the saga.

Disney sent us some Roge One toys to introduce us to the characters, and I took them straight to my mom’s house so we could deliberate what it could be about.

A black R2D2 droid and several new characters, most exciting–A new female heroine named Jyn Erso and many other characters. I asked my kids and my little sister to tell me what they thought might happen in the new series but the best they came up with involved freight trains and bad-guy droids. I guess we are lacking in the creativity department.

My kids have yet to fall in love with the Star Wars series that my grandfather, and mom and I love so much, but I’m hopeful we’ll get there soon enough.

Those of us with more creative thinking or even awesome stop-motion skills should definitely enter this #GoRogue contest using these new toys and creating your own story for Rogue One.

The contest doesn’t close until October 21st and the grand prize is pretty epic so maybe we’ll try to give it another go, or better yet– I’ll have my little sister make one. There’s a category for kids and adults. If you submit a video let me know so we can check it out.

I love Star Wars! Bringing it to our younger kids is a lot of fun watching them play and act out what we’ve watched our whole lives 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Yeah my kids watch the shows. I’m a bit confused by the whole saga/concept…it doesn’t seem very Star Warsy to me, but the kids like it.

These are fabulous toys – much better than my son had available in the 90’s!
It is fun to see these still going strong and bring back memories 🙂
