Falling in love with photography (again)

I don’t know how many pictures I’ve taken of Lil’ J. I’m absolutely sure it’s in the thousands. And her little brother is on his way to catching up though I’m not sure he’ll ever quite get there, with her boutique modeling history and all.

I know I keep whining about not having internet (it’s been over a month!) but one positive to it all is we’ve spent more time doing other things like reading novels, crafting, less Netflix and more playing together. I’ve even been keeping my house clean (wow, I know!).

I’ve also been having fun taking pictures again. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed taking pictures inside our house, but with more space and window light here, I’m finding it’s fun again. After the kids are asleep I find myself tinkering in Photoshop and playing with different artistic edits. I don’t like to go too crazy and these are all a bit out of my “natural style” comfort zone but when you’re without internet (there I go whining again) it pushes you to try new things.

Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been capturing these last few days, and what’s going on in our world.

My sister-in-law got Lil’ J an awesome pop-up princess tent for Christmas and she loves it… As does her little brother. He’s managed to pull it all down a couple times but she’s a good sport about it.

Lil’ J came down with a fever a couple days ago. She RARELY gets sick, so this little girl who’s actually napping during the day and not talking my ear off constantly is kinda scary (and sorta a nice change… wait, did I just say that?). It’s just a little cold that’ll run it’s course. I’m ready to have my chipper little girl back.

We haven’t been outside much because it’s been so cold, but we enjoyed a couple days of high-60s and 70s, so we played on our little porch slab in the back yard and took some photos one evening as the sun was setting. I seriously can’t get over my son’s huge baby seal eyes (and little fro). How did I get so lucky with such a handsome boy?

And this picture is one of my all-time favorites. It’s not the best composition wise, but it sums up my kids perfectly. She’s always playing dress-up (I’m talking 5-10 outfit changes a day) and loving on her brother. He’s just taking it all in, and going with the flow (usually with a firm grip on his sister’s hair).kissing-on-brother-copy

The little one also started crawling this past week, which is really exciting. I’m about to start working on his first video love letter regarding that accomplishment. Also brainstorming tutorials for home videos. If you have specific questions let me know, otherwise I think my first post will be about the tools I use to make them, then we can go from there.

Also, in case you’re wondering about photo editing. I’ve been buying Paint the Moon actions to use in photoshop. They make editing a breeze and super fun to play with.

We don’t have cable (by choice) or internet right now either. Decided to cut the cord for the new year. But your children are beautiful. Funny my son has on the same outfit today 🙂 Love your blog!
