A couple weeks ago we had a “snow day” and school was canceled here the right before expected freezing temperatures would be rolling in. I think it ended up being in the 50s the next day.

Anyway, we made the most of it. It’s rare I capture a cute picture with the both of them together. They were having so much fun when I got this adorable moment.

Read the details and see more of this cuteness over on my new Tampico is Color photo blog.

A beautiful and colorful lifestyle blog featuring an interracial family with stunning biracial children. Inspiring parents to document life's little moments and make beautiful memories with their beautiful babies.

I’ve thought perhaps I could add a photography tip to these weekly photos to encourage you to pick up your camera. My tip/ prompt/ whatever the heck you want to call it, for you this week is to capture the joy in your child’s face. And I don’t mean that cheesy smile they give you when you tell them to smile for the camera. What makes them light up? Capture their reaction to that. This often involves me dancing, singing, or pegging them in the face with marshmallows (hey, it works).

Also, since I’m still getting requests to do a tutorial for making these Words From The Heart photos, I’m going to do a super duper easy if-you-don’t-have-photoshop tutorial soon. It might even be easier than photoshop… Yea, it probably is.

Ok friends, here’s your weekly dose of awesome:

Big T is currently 11 months old.

Disney Princess Pajama Dress: Disney Store (from Daddy!)

She says: “She is the daughter I always dreamed of. One I can watch Disney movies with, and who loves dresses and bows. And while we listened to Pandora, she was able to name off which Disney movies the songs were from in seconds. She’s such a little princess!”

He says: “Yea. So your brainwashing is working?”

Totally not brainwashing, she just has good taste.

What say you?

She says: “Do you think this next baby will be as cute as she is?”
He says: “Heck no!”
She says: “I know, me either.”
He says: “It’s not even possible.”
She says: “Our poor second child. It’s got big shoes to fill.”

Just in time for my nesting frenzies.

She says: “I think it’s time we change her crib to a toddler bed. She’s tall and old enough.”

He says: “I don’t think that would go so well. She will just run out of the room when she doesn’t want to go to sleep.”

She says: “… You have a point.”

What say you?

Do toddlers learn quickly that they need to stay in their room? I’d feel bad shutting the door on her (though with a nightlight she could open it). At night time it won’t be a problem but nap time… That’s a different story. Then again there’s no real rush. It’s not like we’ll have two babies in cribs.

Flashback to Lil’ J’s blessing day.

She says: “I went to a friend’s house for lunch and she was just called to be Relief Society president.”
He says: “Wow, that’s cool.”
She says: “Yea, it is. And another lady at the lunch party’s husband is a bishop. What if you were bishop some day?”
He says: “HA! That would never happen.”
She says: “Well maybe, some day.”
He says: “Maybe. That would be the coolest church ever. But then I’d get released in about a week.”

Translations for people who aren’t familiar with LDS terms: “Ward” is our congregation. “Relief Society President” is like the leader for the women in our congregation. And a Bishop is our congregation leader.
