Here’s a Fun Way to Get Your Kids to Brush Their Teeth
One of the most exciting decisions in my children’s’ lives so far has been at the dentist every six months when they’re asked which flavor toothpaste they want to try.
There’s peppermint, chocolate, marshmallow, bubble gum, grape, strawberry… And probably a few more flavors I’m forgetting. Their eyes get wide with excitement as they quickly deliberate over which flavor to go with. Why I don’t get the same exciting choices when I go for my regular cleaning? I don’t know.
At home, brushing our teeth isn’t nearly as exciting. Though I’ve tried various things to make it so.
Make Brushing Your Teeth Fun
- Playing a song on Alexa and challenging my kids to keep brushing until it’s over
- Setting an old-school sand timer and brushing until it runs out
- We haven’t tried the disclosing tablets that show where the plaque is built up but it seems like something cool to try.
And now Crest has given us another fun way to liven up our teeth-brushing routine with a new flavor challenge. They sent us a fun little package with two brand new toothpaste flavors: BubbleGum and Strawberry.
I’ve always liked using Crest Kids and their cavity protection toothpaste, but thought it was really cool seeing it now comes in some more flavor options.
Before I let my kids dive in, I predicted Lil’ J would go for the bubblegum flavor and Big T would prefer the strawberry.
I was just happy there was no arguing to get them to brush their teeth, then once I showed them the box, it was on.
Working together they pried the toothpastes from their boxes then and decided to try Crest Kids Strawberry flavor first.
The Trial
Lil’ J loved it. Big T was not so sure what he thought.
Round 2 they both tried the BubbleGum flavor. Lil’ J immediately decided she preferred the strawberry and Big T said he liked this BubbleGum flavor more. So the opposite of what I predicted the results to be.
Finally, I asked if they wanted to try a swirl with both varieties together. My son was definitely done brushing his teeth by now and decided to be #TeamBubbleGum but Lil’ J gave it a whirl.
Turns out she loved that the best and chose #TeamMashUp.
My kids may not have a choice on whether or not they have to brush their teeth, but at least now they can choose which flavor they want to brush with.
You can get your own tubes at Walmart. Do you think your kids would be #TeamStrawberry #TeamBubbleGum or #TeamMashUp? Would love to hear!
