Aloha Little LadyBug We’re 34 Weeks Pregnant!
My Dear Precious Little Ladybug,
Six weeks still seems like a long time until we meet, but when I was reading one of my update emails talking about “relaxing” as much as I can and saving up, eating up etc. for labor I realized you really are almost here.
I think my “mommy paranoia” is already starting to set in. I’ve heard some people experience extreme anxiety after they have babies, worried something bad is going to happen to them. I’m normally not that kind of person.. I mean, I’m not afraid if you get a little rash from a new dress. It’s not cause I don’t love you, it’s because I don’t think you’ll have super sensitive skin and be allergic to new clothes. We’ll see. But I AM already worried that if I’m not watching you when you’re sleeping you may go to sleep an never wake up. I’m not morbid, just paranoid or something. I hope it goes away once you’re born. But I have a feeling it may get a little worse before it gets better.
I had a dream two nights ago that something bad had happened to you and I woke up startled. Then I was waiting for you to move and felt a BIG JAM into my rib. Your foot. It hurt, but I smiled cause I knew you were ok.
People keep asking my if I’m ready to get you out. I am ready to meet you, I’m so excited for that. But I also feel like taking care of you now is easier than it’s going to be, and I don’t mind giving you all time time you need… Well, until June 30th, I REALLY want you to be a June baby. Oooh, I can call you June bug! I’ll add that to your list of nicknames.
I’ve been thinking about our morning/night routine. I like to sing to you, as you’ve probably noticed, so I bought an album called “Twenty Five Beloved Primary Songs” and it has all of these songs I remember listening to when I was young. Primary is where you’ll go when you’re about four years old, it’s at our church. You’ll learn about Jesus and sing songs.
I didn’t really get a chance to go to Primary but my uncle gave me a CD of some of the songs when I was young and I remembered some of them when I’d hear them at church.
I don’t know all of the songs on the CD I made you but we’ll learn them together. I’m going to put that CD in your player every night before bed and I’ll read and sing to you. Sound like a deal?
Oh little girl, you are getting so big now! You should be about 4 3/4 pounds now, and around 18 inches long! I have a feeling you’re longer though. I was a really long baby, and based on where I feel your head, and kicks, and the fact that I think you’re hunched over, I think you’re long too.
Your lungs and central nervous system are still developing and you’re only three weeks to being term! If you were born now though you’d most likely be ok after a short stay in the NICU, but just keep cooking, we’ve still got lots to do before you get here!
You’re developing fat layers now so you should be nice and round when you come out. That’s the downside of long babies… I was so long there was nothing round about me… You daddy on the other hand, he was round for quite some time. Yes, he was very chubby. … And had red hair, but we won’t get into that. I’m hoping you have dark hair like your mommy! And lots of it!
Your daddy and I were talking about doing some practice runs to the hospital in the next couple of weeks. Just to make sure we know the routes to get where we’re going, where to park and what not. We also talked more about your birth. We both have learned SO MUCH lately but we’ve decided not to go into it with our fists up ready to fight. We know you’ll come into this world the way you’re suppose to, and as long as you and I are ok, we are going to be so happy. We’re not aiming for what some see as a “perfect experience” because to us, the perfect experience will be meeting you, and really, it doesn’t matter the means. Besides, after comes the fun part!
We are so excited to meet you baby girl! Keep growing for us!

Welcome to Aloha Friday! For any of you who do not know what Aloha Friday is…In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that people take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So, we take it easy on Friday blog posts by sticking to just one quick question that surfers-by can answer with just a quick response themselves. (I’m an overachiever and do this on top of my normal post).
This week I want to know:
What nicknames do you have for your family members?
My answer: I’m still coming up with nicknanes for Spawnie (besides Spawnie) but so far I have Ladybug, Baby Girl, Little J and now June Bug (if she’s actually born in June).
My husband doesn’t really have nicknames. I just call him “babe” and sometimes “hubby” or “hubs” on my blog.
YAY not much longer! She will be here before you know it. I’ve been putting together Lullabyes for the kids and I love them. They are Christian based and beautiful! I know that you will be a wonderful mom. You are lenient, open minded but still willing to learn what is best. Good luck!
Yes please keep cooking little baby… Much better that way. I am at the hospital doing all I can to reach that 34 week now thanks to my water breaking at the temple. So yes hold in there enjoy this time and don’t worry everything will be great.
Congrats on getting this far! :o) and nicknames come easier once you meet her. I like the ladybug one…too cute. I call my son monkey man, chico, homey, Papi Chulo, munchkin, Booger, Monkey butt (dont know why on that one). Yeah the list can go on and on LOL. I call my husband Mr. Man usually when he irritates me…lol. I usually call him honey or babe. Nothing to imaginative i know…but the brain power is gone thanks to Monkey Man :o).
I love your letters to your little one. You should definitely collect them all in a book for her. She’ll appreciate them when she older (like 30). As far as nicknames. It’s just me and my husband now. I call him babe and he calls me the same. All our pets have nick names. Isis is Icy or Ice Bucket; Candy is Snookie; Samson is Samwham. Dr. Lecter doesn’t have a nickname. He’s a snake. I don’t talk to him much.
Hi!! Wow, we live so close to each other!!!
Congrats on your baby!! I have 1 boy and 5 girls and girls are just awesome (not that boys aren’t) but girls just rock!! We’ll see how I feel during those teenage years. LOL!!
First let me say that I love your blog!! It is so well done!
I started a blog a couple of months ago (about 2 1/2 months ago actually) so I am very new at the blogging thing. I don’t have a clue on how to do all the cool stuff you do so if you have any tips, please let me know!! I do hope you will come and visit my blog sometime and please also feel free to leave comments. I love them!!
I saw that we had some similar interests (and live really close) so I just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself really!
I wish you so much luck during your delivery! Being a mother is such a gift and a blessing and I have been blessed 6 times so I consider myself the luckiest girl on the planet! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂
I call my little one Moo. She loves milk like a baby calf. LOL. And my niece we nicknamed Squirrel because of her fiestiness.
I have always called my daughter dolly.
Have a great weekend!
I love readding, and thanks for your artical.
Oh, the nicknames we gave our kids when they wer newborns. There nicknames came from the bodily function they did the most or struggled with.
Little miss rumble bum (gassy)
booger boy (always congested)
Squirt (Only pooped once a week and when she did…)
Pukerella (spit up constantly)
Now they are Na, Bubs, Lou Lou, and KMae which are just different versions of their actual names.
Oh we are a family of nickname-a-holics!
My husband and I are Bubba and Zandi but our real names are Howard and Alexandra! So we knew whatever we named out kid really didnt matter coz he/she probably wouldnt be call that much anyway!
His name is Elijah but he responds to:
and on and on and on… you get the drift!
Cute post, glad you are doing well 🙂
I am a nickname fanatic! I had so many nicknames for our dog and it has been no different since our son was born. His name is Adam but he loving gets called:
turkeyworker (no clue where I came up with this one but it’s my most fave)
He answers to all of them 🙂
I pretty much use all the cute names that pops into my mind at the moment 🙂
I saw that “little j” made the list and got a big old grin on my face 🙂 Haha!
Not much longer now! She’ll be here before you know it. I think it’s totally normal for you to have the anxiety your having. I had the exact same fears. I remember there were nights that I would stand over cribs and listen to my kids snoring softly. I do that now too. My youngest is only 6 months.
Aloha mama 😉 Your feelings are totally normal at least to me their normal lol maybe were both just morbid beings :-/ but I doubt it!
Onto your question….
Princess! Yup I call her Princess more than her real name lol & she holds the title well! The boys are all just broken down from their real name (but you already knew that) & I usually call L babe too 🙂
We have come up with different nicknames along the way. We used to call him Bubba, now we have been calling him Austers but other people joined in on that and now lately we have been calling him chewy, Aus, tooka, goose, tinnerous. Silly names we come up with I know.
How exciting! You are so close to meeting your little June Bug!!!
My family is small, but I have a husband, who I call a lot of nicknames: Nuggle (short for snuggle), Nuggieee, Nug, Hun, Baybee, B, and Froofree (don’t ask me why)
I also have a cat named Akira, I call her: Keer, Baby Key, Baby, Key, Kira, and little butt. These things just pop out of my mouth without control… i guess my family was always big on nicknames.
We just adopted a new kitty and his name is now Cloud, I did this hoping to avoid my aweful habit of nicknaming my loved ones to death. We’ll see.
Hi, I´m visiting for the second time! I love your blog!!!
I totally understand that you have these dreams and these worries about your cute little “June bug”(cute nickname)! I had them in all of my three pregnancies. I already thought I was crazy. ;o) But everything turned out fine.
I´m still singing for my kids. (They are 10, 6 and 2.)And I´m surprised they still like it…
I´m sure everything will be fine for you and your Baby!
My husband is Honey or Rabbit. My little on is Biggie or Buddy.
We have SO many- people were getting confused on the blog so here’s the short list of who we are. 😉
