A Little Too Proud?…

I’m not sure if it could have gone unsaid! Sorry if you’re not “with it” when it comes to football (and please excuse my basketball photo to the left, I just thought it best showed my excitement), but I imagine you can ask your husband what I’m talking about…

I’m not normally the down and dirty sports kind of girl. I know I’m 5′ 11″ but NO…I did not play basketball in college, nor did I play volleyball or any other sport like that… Not even in high school. No… I was the tall girl on the cheerleading squad… The one the girl basketball coach would stare and shake her head at thinking of the potential I “wasted” having chosen the other side.

Either here nor there, it doesn’t matter. I still grew up to like other sports… Watching them that is. And last night I had the privilege of watching one of the most exciting games of my live. I’m talking about the biggest upset in football this year! Ok… I know the season just started but still! No one thought my cougars would win but I had faith!

I was staying optimistic before the game Saturday. I wore my cougar blue on the anchor desk and was wearing it proud. We were facing #3 Oklahoma, and no one thought we would win. But even at work, when I saw they had the lead I couldn’t contain myself. I jumped up from my desk and screamed. Yelled at everyone “WHO SAID THEY WOULDN’T WIN?.. TAKE THAT ESPN!”

The sports guys laughed at me, and broadcasted my excitement (and the fact that I was dancing around the newsroom) to the world… Err… to everyone who watches our news show on a Saturday night. BYU beat the Oklahoma Sooners! BOOYA!

And now I’m that much more excited to dress up my little ones in these:
Think I’m kidding? Look at what I’ve already done for Snoop:

Notice his cute collar in the first picture? Yep, I made him his own BYU Collar and Leash set, a a bandanna, and a matching headband for me to with it! And there’s LOTS more where that came from Here!
(By the way, I don’t have an etsy shop or anything but that link is to my dog collar website, let me know if you want me to whip you up something!)
So, can you IMAGINE how I’ll be with human kids?! Lawd help me! I told myself I wouldn’t but stuff for a baby I don’t have yet but I may need to make an exception for this. I unfortunately found it quite difficult to spot all of those cute baby onesies and whatnot with the BYU logo on it! I thought BYU was he #1 school for kids with spawn. Hmm, maybe I’ll have to start making my own baby BYU gear for jr.

What about you? Got school spirit? Force your kids to have it too? And while were on the topic, where do you find the cutest baby gear?
(oh, cause I know I will!Yes, I’ll be “that mom”)

Ashley says:

I’m not really a football fan (I act like I care for my husband who is a HUGE footfall fan), but I have to say I’m SO glad that your team beat the sooners! I went to a school in OK for two years, and sooner fans are annoying! (sorry if I offended anyone. 🙂

alli says:

As a longhorn, I’m happy that OU lost, and as a Mormon, I’m glad it was BYU who beat them. =) I’m sure I’ll dress my kids up in burnt orange when the time comes. I think it’s pretty adorable.

Mallory says:

I have a friend whose little girl has a BYU sweatshirt. She’s 4 months old. It’s stinkin’ adorable!

Oh yes, dressing human kids is SO much fun.

Emmy says:

I love you even more now!! GOOOO Cougars! I am a HUGE fan. I thought I was going to get sick during that game last night, so awesome!!! I knew we could do it I just wasn’t sure if we would. And we dominated!! I wish Sam hadn’t gotten hurt as now some are saying we won because he got hurt, but look at the first half stats! Take out a few errors and we would have been dominating them in score. Even with the errors, Max Hall’s first half stats are worlds better then Sam’s. ohh.. I had better stop before I get too carried away. 🙂
Love you girl!!

{Katie Lane} says:

I watched that game. It was awesome 🙂

I was also VERY happy about the win, woot woot!! 🙂

MommyJ says:

Oh man oh man, that game was awesome… I had a feeling they might win.

Um, you are one serious fan. 🙂 I mean, I was excited and all, but I don’t think I stood on any furniture. Wait… I see you just said you stood up from your desk… not on your desk. Heh.

My oldest was born in Provo and wore a BYU onesie… very cute. 🙂

Yakini says:

lmao @ Snoop with that kerchief around his neck. so cute!!!!!

yeah, dh loves putting the babe in all that sports gear. lol. when/if i ever have a little girl im sure i’ll get a kick out of putting her in little girly sports stuff (esp. cheerleader stuff, lol) as well. so fun!!!!

Cody says:

My future child will be wearing bright orange University of Tennessee and blue BYU gear all the way! I will make sure that my children are indoctrinated with UT and BYU pride.

heather says:

I do have school spirit…and yes, my kids wear Cougar shirts. I even bought my daughter some cute little bows to put in her hair that have the BYU logo on them. Love it!
Oh, and I actually love your photo with Cosmo…two of my friends were the men behind that costume. 🙂
And, YEAH!!!! We won yesterday! Pure Awesomeness.

Josie says:

HAHAHA! My baby has a USU shirt and I made her a skirt to go with that looked like a cheer shirt. I say looke like because it was wool and I accidently washed it, so seriosly…. it wont fit anything now 🙁 BUT- I had to laugh when I read about you being 5’11 and the tall cheerleader. I myself am 5 11 3/4 (LOL!) and I was the tall drill team girl… I ALWAYS get asked if I played sports. But I LOVE football! 🙂

Kelly says:

It is too bad you didn’t get to go to the game. You are in Texas, right? Wouldn’t it have been so much better if you had actually been there? Oh, well. I am a Utah Ute, but I was still cheering like crazy for BYU. Just staying true to the MWC.

Heatherlyn says:

I there! I found the cutest baby gear for my son at the BYU bookstore when I was a student there.

The BYU game was a pretty huge upset! It’s always nice when the team you are rooting for does well. College football is so much more exciting than pro-ball, in my humble opinion.

I’m a BSU Bronco fan, myself. It’s contagious here in Boise. We played Oklahoma once, too. 🙂

I was sad about OU losing, but thats cuz all my pals are from OK! I hear about the team all the time, I have their shirts, I’ve been to their games… so I felt the need to root for OU. But, it was nice to see BYU win— they were the surprise winners.

Jenna says:

The first thing my mom bought me when I announced I was having a girl: A pink Cougars T-shirt, size 6M. 🙂

Audrey has her share of BYU attire. Girl was practically born there, so she’s gotta be a fan, right?

Tori says:

I’m an Ohio State fan (and Alum) myself… and you can see from my latest blog entry (http://bradandtoriblog.blogspot.com/) that my son is already destined to be decked out in Buckeyes gear for the rest of his life 🙂

It was an amazing game! I love football season, and then it leads into NBA season and it’s just a happy time until June when the play off’s end and I’m depressed until September… but atleast by that time summer is in full swing. I can’t wait to deck my baby out in BYU gear – I’m a proud cougar!

Wow! When you have your baby, we know how what that cutie pie will wear!

Darcel says:

Awww…look at those cute onsies!

Jess says:

Im not a sportsy girl at all LOL I twisted my ankle twice while runnin in school lol BUT Ry sported a BYU onesie when he was tiny AND has some BYU babyleggins! 😉 ill find some pics & tweet them to you hehe

melifaif says:

You are SO cute! Yes you are! Contact me about cute baby shops! I am a pro at that…and this list would be TOO long!

I love the BYU dog colar. I tried to find one at the book store when we bought our first dog, but they don’t have any! How lame is that? Good for you for making one on your own.

Mariel says:

Thanks for stopping by our blog today. Love the BYU baby stuff, my Dad would go nuts over those! Yes, LDS.
