A Girl Can Dream, Can’t She?

So yesterday I shared bedding I love. Today I showed them to my husband, he loved the price. Especially the $50 9 piece frog set I love if Spawnie is a boy.

But I wasn’t totally IN LOVE with any girl sets. They were all OK, and cute, but nothing was IT… You know, popping out the moment it’s spotted knowing it’s THE ONE… Like a wedding dress. Yes, I know I sound slightly insane for comparing my child’s nursery decor to my wedding dress. And maybe I am… Insane that is. If you don’t think so now, you will once you see the bedding I’ve decided is PERFECT for a daughter… One I would DIE to have if Spawnie is a girl. One my husband would actually KILL me for buying if she is (so yes, are we clear? I would be dead). Just look at this:
**dies**

One of my sinful wonderful Twitter friends was so kind to send me a link to a simple Myspace page… A page that was so glorious I actually signed into my ancient Myspace account just to see more pictures… And fall more in love. I was taking suggestions from friends and simultaneously grateful and depressed that she introduced me to this work at home designer.

My eyes watered. I’d never seen any little girl bedding so beautiful in all of my years (yes years) of searching. Hunting nursery designs have been a secret hobby of mine since before I was even thinking about children!
The bows, the ruffles, the mix match designs! It’s PERFECT!

I wanted to cry because I knew it was going to be expensive… Something out of my reach. I wanted to cry because I knew I’d be disappointed once I realized I couldn’t afford it, and that any bedding I chose after setting my eyes on this would be settling. I wanted to cry because I couldn’t believe I was seriously freaking out about baby bedding right now… Ok I could.I may be one of the biggest girlie girls you’ll ever meet, and these designs were the epitome of girlie. By the way, all of these are by Love Bug Baby Bedding.

I know there are so many more important things I will buy for Spawnie, and some would argue it’s selfish of me to look at such glamorous bedding that will get peed, pooped and barfed on… But I would be lying if I said I cared. The ONE thing I REALLY want to splurge on is bedroom decor. I’m not too proud to buy a used high chair, dresser, clothes, books, toys, or whatever else we may need… Heck, I’d buy a used set like this in a SECOND if I could find one. I’m eyeballing my prized possessions wondering how much I could salvage for them. Selling Snoop even popped into my mind… But only for a second (don’t tell him I said that)! Ready for my excuse to splurge? Well, I got a crib for free, so that saved like $400! I could use that $400 to pay for (part of) this! Look at all the adorable matching stuff!! **dies**

No no, that free crib argument is not convincing enough, my husband won’t go for that. I must work hard to think of a master plan so I won’t die… And so my husband won’t kill me. But until then. I’ll keep dreaming, and hope that most of you are right in that Spawnie is a boy so I can buy the $50 frog set I LOVE for a little boy, and pack my dreams of a pink princess room away until I get a promotion or two.

**PS: (Added an hour later) I JUST found these on Ebay by babyloom! Similar and HALF the price!! Hubby still laughed at me, but we’re getting closer!**

Oh, several of those are just to die for, I agree! But you know, I found an amazing set on ebay for my daughter, and I have never been happier. She is 2 1/2 and it is still in great shape!
You can also look on etsy… or, if all else fails, find some gorgeous fabric and talk your crafty friends into spending a weekend creating your dream bedding for you!

Lauren says:

I love the black and white damask-ish one. I DIE!

Natalia says:

When I see cute things like this, it makes me soooo wish I was a seamstress extraordinaire

MissMarcy says:

OMG I absolutely adore the aqua/pink/brown? one!! They are all way TOO cute! Congrats on the free crib! My daughter is 5 mos old and we haven’t even been able to get hers yet! Lol.

I’m sooo tempted with that set though lol. I hope you do have a girl, so you can pick out cute frilly stuff and dress her up =) Girls are soooo much fun!

I LOVE this bedding! I wish I had $400 to drop on something like this. I’d buy a set for my daughter and my son. These sets are adorable.

Ashley says:

OMG! I love the black and white one!! LOVE LOVE it!

Francesca says:

They are all gorgeous BUT after having had one of my own I have a couple of suggestions that you may or may not like…. 🙂 1. Babies “leak” from the top and bottom end so having something simple and easy to clean is a good idea. Often they will “leak” more than once a night so you need to have more than one set. 2. Bumpers look nice but are actually not recommended from a SIDS perspective as babies can get caught in/under them and not be able to breath properly.
They ARE pretty though 🙂

Sarah says:

Ask for these as baby shower gifts! That way you don’t have to buy them and you could get what you want!

kristibonney says:

You’re not playing are you? You’ve put a lot of effort into looking for baby bedding. 🙂 The ones you found are super cute. You know, with your luck one of those companies may decide to give you one for free in exchange for all the free publicity you just gave them!
Now let’s get serious…keep it all in perspective. Shelling out that much money for bedding may not be the wisest thing to do. There really is so much more that you could do with that money, like investing in Spawnie’s future. Just a thought.
By the way, I wrote a blog post about Platinum Babies. I’m sure you’ve heard of the show. Stop on by and take a look when you get a chance. I’d love to have you over. Have a great day.

Good luck choosing! They are all so beautiful! I did neutral colors, but I had boy/girl twins so I didn’t have a choice lol!

Michelle says:

I know everyone had their own taste but I LOVE all these bedding sets. I decorated my oldest’s nursery in Pooh but when I have another I will definitely go for a more sophisticated look that does not revolve around a certain character they will outgrow quickly.

My question for you is do you know anyone who sews? Nice fabric isn’t cheap but if someone could make the bedding set for you you could do it at a fraction of the cost. And don’t be surprised people will be modest when you ask them if they know how to sew. Hubby’s aunt swears she just sews “a little” but for our wedding she took the shawl that came with my wedding dress and turned it into an amazing ring bearer pillow, bag for the pillow, and bible cover, all made from the fabric and beading of my wedding dress. I still love it and it is so special because it was handmade.

Francesca beat me to the punch. She’s the voice of reason. I second what she said.

I’d rather spend that money on a baby monitor, a nice stroller, and a self-winding swing.

The fancy bedding can come along when Spawnie is old enough to use the toilet and make her own bed.

wow…so before I finished reading your post I saved the website to my favorites and saved some of the pictures for the glorious day when i too get to choose bedding for my future child…then I almost choked when you said that the $400 saved could pay for SOME! lol ya right that’s insane! I will admit that the bedding is completely beautiful and totally different than anything else out there…but WOW!

Manic-Momma says:

lol! That sounds just like how I was-before I wanted to be a mommy I would secretly look at baby bedding, make lists of my favorite baby names, you name it. And can I just say I LOVE all of the nursery bedding you picked out, esp. the black and white damask! Ohhhh I love me some damask. So pretty. Good luck with everything! Ebay sounds like it’s the best option!

Alanna says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the black & white set!!!!!!!!! Wow….

Taking about experience choose a bedding that will wash easily and that is on the darker color. Babies tend to have *accident a lot* so if you pay big $$$ for a bedding set make sure it will last 🙂

I love the prints from the first picture. They’re all great though.

Girl I just stumbled upon your blog today and it is adorable! LOVE IT!! I’ll be here often. Hubby and I have been married for 7 years we have a 2 year old and currently thinking about #2. Come by and visit me on my blog sometime!

Dagmar says:

These all look cute, but I just want to warn you that 1) my son only now sleeps in his own bed, and he is 3! (I co-slept with him for that long and LOVED it, also because I could breastfeed on demand and never had to get up 🙂

and 2) those bumpers are NOT SAVE. If you want to be safe regarding SIDS, do not install bumpers. We never used ours, but then again we never used our beautiful crib either 🙂

Sophia says:

Just bought my mini crib and I bought my crib sheet set for a steal, only $16 from BabiesRUs it was on black friday clearance and marketed down from $160. I have to adjust it a bit because mini cribs are very difficult to find bedding for and this price was worth busting out the sewing machine for! Check it out:

Marly says:

OK, I must just be a weirdo because bedding just doesn’t appeal to me. My baby’s have a sheet and a blanket their grandma made them 🙂
Good luck! Having a boy would sure make it an easier choice.
