5 Things I’m loving lately
Life is awesome! I guess it’s just one of those weeks. I’m feeling good, feeling great. Just enjoying some of the simple pleasures.
1. My kids: Ok this may seem like a giant “DUH” but for a little while there I felt like I was strapped into a sinking ship that was going down. We’re talking Titanic-style and there was no lifeboat left for me. I was plummeting towards a dark and frozen abyss from which I’d find no return.
Ok… Maybe it wasn’t that bad. But seriously, I was kind of melting down with the whole “how do I do everything with two kids?!” thing. I guess it was just a combination of not sleeping much and feeling like all I do every dang day is make meals and clean up messes. Not fun.

I’m usually into fiction but I thought it would be fun to delve into nonfiction this year. I just finished Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) and laughed the whole way though. It was my first shot at reading an autobiography and I thought it was really good. Now I’m reading Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In. I don’t get to read much during the day, but it’s something to look forward to when I’m rocking the kids to sleep, or during middle-of-the-night feedings. I’m thoroughly enjoying getting back into reading again.
5. Church: I’m having a blast in our new ward (congregation), meeting people, and watching my daughter enjoy Primary. I got a new calling (a service position) with the young women (12-17) in our ward and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m also giving a talk (like a sermon) next Sunday and I’m halfway excited halfway nervous about it… Mostly because our service starts at 8:30am and I’ve only made it on time once so far this year.
Also, I must admit, dressing my little dapper duy up is something I’ve been looking forward to every Sunday.
*Bonus love*: Army Wives. I turn it on in the background while I’m blogging, editing pictures, what have you, and it’s a really good show!

Oh wow…sounds like me with the triplets right now. Do mind you mind sharing a few more details about getting a schedule or routine in place. I’m needing it easier. Our lives are pretty busy so….glad you got into a groove…*has hope over here* 😉
I’m glad you finally got a schedule going! I’ve been meaning to read Lean In, the problem as always is finding the time! Good luck with your talk/sermon! I’m sure you’ll do fine!
Schedules are great!!! Even when they go wrong…haha. I know it helped me feel like I was FINALLY in better control of the bosses (kids…ha).
I developed a schedule a while back and I strongly started to adhere to it within the last few months and it has worked wonders for my children. Now I just need to be more forceful with myself so I can get a few more hours of sleep in.
When anyone asks me to read a book, I recommend The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I think you’ll like it. Grad school and work pretty much prevent me from reading as much as I’d like but I’m aiming to find more time to do so. I just recently read The Four Agreements and it was a pretty good read as well. Now I off to read And the Mountains Echoed by Khalid Hosseini for my facebook book club and then The Twelve Tribes of Hattie by Ayana Mathis for my Blerd Book Club. LOL!
I have to lol on #2! I’m hooked on Frozen too! I’m in love with that movie because it gears away from your average “love” story!

Look at all those teeth T has now! He’s growing so fast. The Invisible Girls by Sarah Thebarge is a great read as far as nonfiction goes. I have about 15 books I am reviewing for different clients coming up on YUMMommy. So, keep an eye out for the posts and maybe you’ll see some more books to add to your wish list.

I think the older my daughter has gotten (she’s 13 months now), the more I feel capable of being a person again. I think the best days for us are busy days, filled with activities, that are pre-planned. Like I have found the days I take my daughter for a check-up, then Gymboree, then a nap and some down time at home, we are all a lot happier. I cannot for the life of me get that child to follow a schedule as far as sleeping is concerned (and if you have any tips I would love to hear them), but it really is best to keep busy and get out of the house at least once so I don’t end up feeling like I’m in Stephen King’s “The Shining” by the end of the day. It’s hard work being a stay at home mom. I’m so glad that you’re honest about it, makes me feel like I’m not a horrible person for finding it difficult sometimes.
You and I are opposites when it comes to reading: I’m not a fiction fan and have loads of nonfiction sitting on my nightstand that I start and stop in fits. The books I tend to complete are the ones my church’s mom’s group reads, and I’m excited for the new one coming up this semester. We’re reading No More Perfect Moms by Jill Savage . . . Also loving lil man’s dapper outfit! He’s the cutest!
