5 Days Until Christmas and I Still Need to…
Some things never change I tell ya. I always go into the holiday with good intentions to finish my holiday shopping early, take a bunch of Christmas photos, send out my holiday cards and have everything wrapped and ready a week early. I start with my kids and make a list for all who we need to shop for. Then a few weeks pass and then before we know it we’re a week out and I’m still where I was a month ago. What can I say–I’m a chronic holiday procrastinator.
The one thing that throws a kink into my holiday planning every year is our anniversary, just two days before Christmas. Considering we’ll be getting a way for a couple of days to celebrate, that cuts my Christmas prep time down to three days. Yikes!
So far I have the kids items picked out: Something they want (from Santa), something they need, something to wear and something to read. None is wrapped yet. Actually most is stacked in boxes near my front door. But I’m hoping to let the kids visit with Granny for a little while os my husband and I can go through the gifts and start wrapping today.
I still need to shop for my parents, sisters, my husband and my son’s preschool teachers. I also need to pick up a book for his gift exchange. I also have a work checklist, food to buy/prepare, some Christmas lights to see and songs to sing, and some things to plan to get ready for our anniversary… But other than that I’d say we’re pretty good.
When possible I like consolidating my shopping and hitting up places where I can get gifts for multiple people. Sears is one place I love because I can use their app to order my items then use in-vehicle pickup to grab my order without having to go into the store, or waiting days for it to get shipped to my house. Here’s a video I made of the service in action so you can see how quick it is. It’s convenient, and awesome for
avoiding the holiday shopping crowds.
Despite the long list of things I have left to do, this still is my favorite time of year. I kind of love the chaos. The clock is ticking but somehow it’ll all come together like it does each year. And Christmas day will (hopefully) be as magical for my kids as it was for me when I was their age.

*I’m passionate about spending quality time with my family and I love it when stores make that easier for me by making shopping, faster, easier and more affordable. That’s why I’ve partnered with Sears for this post. Be sure to check out Sears.com/gifts while you’re working on your holiday shopping and give their free in-vehicle pickup service a try!
Definitely last min…. still have lot of shopping, wrapping, stuff to make and the list just keep growing and growing.
Last minute shopper here! I would love to get some new kitchen appliances from Sears <3
I’m an early shopper because I have 6 kids to buy for! I’d love to have a kitchen aid mixer or some new clothes for myself though! 🙂
I’ve always considered myself to be a very organized well prepared person- well let me tell ya since having my second child in May I have been having a hard time getting my act together lol and it seems like my mommy/nursing brain always makes me forget things! Soooo I would love the Covington robe and slippers as a last minute gift for my cousin who graciously watches my 2 kids each day as I go to work as a teacher!
I would give it to my sister-in-law who just bought her first house! Still deciding on a gift (or gift certificate) for her since she’ll need so much.
Would love warm and cozy pjs and socks?
I haven’t bought anything for hubby or baby!!! Hubby would love a deep freezer! Baby could use clothes, of course! I would love a mini fridge for my classroom cuz my room is on the other side of the school from any fridge!!!
I try to bargain shop from the end of summer through Halloween. Problem is I don’t stop and I end up buying too much.
I have 6 kids so planned ahead for them but still have hubby to do and could use a blender and food processor!
I’m planning all of my shopping for tomorrow, because procrastination! That Amazon Kindle or a blu-ray player would be a nice addition to my gifts though!
I’m a procrastinator, even though I’ve made plans weeks in advance (like you). Amazon Prime is my friend. I also have my kids write out their wishlists based on the “Want, Need, Wear, Read” idea; my husband and I do this, too. If I were to receive a Sears gift card I’d use it to purchase kitchen items for my hard-to-shop-for college-age daughter. Have fun on your anniversary getaway!
Just finished a semester of nursing school and I’m also a wife and mom to 6 kiddos so i am soooo behind on shopping! I would love to gift myself some of those Cannon heated blankets though because I am so cold! We live in Phoenix and my husband doesn’t think we need to turn the heat on…but it is so cold!
I tend to be more of a planner and an early shopper. Hubby would love Craftsman tools or a tool chest, that’s what I’d use a Sear’s gift card toward!
Still doing some last minute shopping and a Sears gift card would be ideal.
I would love to get some small kitchen appliances that I’ve had my eye on! Thanks for the giveaway!
I don’t mean to procrastinate, but we live away from most of our family so it’s hard to know what to get them since we don’t seem them super often. As a result, we have to wait for lists, and then once I get out and shop around, suddenly we’re down to a week or two and I panic a little bit. Then add in all of the baking and packing and events and it is CRAZY down to the wire. Now I have ONE gift to decide on (gift card would be awesome!) and a bunch of wrapping to do.
Oh, and if buying for your son’s teachers gets expensive, consider getting them breakfast one day. I got to the point where more than half of the teachers in my kids’ daycare had some contact with them (changed rooms halfway through the year, late afternoon shift, etc.) so I couldn’t buy for all of them. One year I decided to get them lunch (sandwich tray, chips and cookies), and it was cheaper than getting the gifts I would have wanted to. This year, with only one kid there but still a lot of interaction with other teachers, I opted for breakfast. I got them bagels, cream cheese, OJ, donut holes, and some clementines for less than $30. Everyone enjoyed it and it saves me from figuring out who “deserves” what!
In between..I generally get most things earlier for my kiddos but am late with things for my husband because I can never figure out what to get him that we can afford.
I would love to get my husband some newer clothes from Sears.
P.s. Our anniversary is the 20th so I know how that goes with Christmas 😉
I don’t even want to think about the things I still need to do before Christmas. I have bought so few presents that this might just be the year when I make good on my promise not to go overboard with Christmas presents.
Ha! I’m a so much worse! I was still wrapping presents after the New Year and giving them off! LOL
