Independence Day 10 years ago I had just started dating my husband. We’d been dating for 11 days to be exact. He invited me to watch fireworks with his family and I was already head over heels in love. My stomach flipped when he reached to hold my hand.
Four years ago I celebrated the 4th of July in the hospital holding my newborn daughter in my arms. We’ve watched the fireworks together every year since. She’s always a little frightened at first but warms up and enjoys the thrill after a few minutes.
I love dressing us all up in matching patriotic attire and any excuse to try to grab a family photo. My sisters came over to be a part of the photo shoot. Lauren is obsessed with Snoop and Lil’ J is obsessed with her Aunt Kimmie.
As my husband and I watched fireworks together for the 10th year, it felt quite similar to the first. Except this time we had our four-year-old with us.
I’m so blessed to have such a fantastic family, and live in such a wonderful nation.
