10 Ways To Celebrate World Kindness Day Everyday
It’s World Kindness Day but what if I challenge you to act as if everyday is World Kindness Day. The idea behind the day is show acts of kindness to your family, friends, neighbors, community helpers and anyone you happen to come in contact. I have 10 ways to celebrate World Kindness Day everyday, because it’s really simple to do just one kind thing for someone each day. Most of these 10 things can be done by anyone of just about any age with a little variation when necessary. Pick one, do it today and then keep it going. Pretty soon it will be a regular part of your routine and a great way to fill your own cup in the process. Kindness will always come back to you.
Call Someone
Is there someone you haven’t spoken to in a while that you’ve been meaning to reach out to? Make the call today. Block out some time to call not text or catch up with them on social media. I suggest this one first because I love a good phone conversation. Sure it’s “old school” or not so much introvert friendly but do it anyway. And if you happen to be the person on the receiving end of the call, answer it.
Bring Someone a warm drink
For hot chocolate, or coffee lovers, a surprise cup will always be welcome. You can always substitute with a bottle of water. The point is to bring a friend, coworker or teacher a surprise cup of what they enjoy.
Pay It Forward
Have you ever heard of paying it forward in the drive through line. The saying is “forward” but what you’re really doing is paying for the person that’s in line behind you. You can pay for their entire meal or put a few dollars towards it. I’ve done this and I’ve also had it done to me. It’s one of those unexpected acts of kindness that stays with you for a long time. And I love when I spot the person behind me paying for the next person in line. It’s a gift that can keep on giving.
Mail Cards
Here’s another one I love. Yes you can say hi via social or email but when was the last time you sent a card via snail mail to someone you love. This one is really cute for kids as everyone loves a cute handmade card from their favorite child. You can also put a card on the dash in your spouse’s car or put on in your kid’s lunchbox.
Give A Service Worker A Small Gift
Texas summers are brutal but our service workers are still out here picking up the trash, delivering mail and caring for our community. We like to live our bottles of water and a small snack for our mail carriers to grab when they come to our door. Is it cold where you live? Those hand warmers that go in gloves make for great world kindness day gifts. Here are some free thank-you water bottle labels you can use to get you started.
Bring Up Your Neighbor’s Trash Can
Do you have a neighbor that maybe gets home late or can’t make it to the curb for whatever reason. Bring up their trash can on pickup day. This is another one kids can easily join in on and cost nothing.
Make A Donation
Have a favorite charity you love? Send them a donation on World Kindness Day. Most people can’t do this everyday but any donation, no matter the size will be appreciated by a charity. Are you an Amazon shopper, set up your preferred charity via Amazon Smile so that when you shop, they receive a donation. You can even donate a coat to a coat drive, or some toys to a toy drive.
Pay Someone A Compliment
You look beautiful, handsome, happy or any other compliment can’t brighten up someone’s day. Pay a compliment to your significant other, your children, your coworker, a stranger at the store.
Spread Good News On Social Media
I had to add this one because well, I spend a lot of time on social media and perhaps you do too. Spend your social media time sharing feel good stories, funny memes and even notes of gratitude to other people online. Did a social media friend do something great for you? Give them a shoutout.
Say Thank You
Have you said “thank you” to someone for what they mean to you lately? World Kindness Day is a great day to let someone know how much you appreciate them. You can thank your kids for making you laugh, thank you pet for their unconditional love or thank your best friend for being them. The list goes on and on. It’s free and it’s another way to celebrate World Kindness Day Everyday.
Which act of kindness will you start with today?
