Alright so a few weeks ago I called Peter uncommitted. I didn’t think he was really into Rachel. But after this episode it was clear that he was into her he was just too realistic for this show.

Rachel comes out on state for a Bachelorette season 13 LIVE finale that’s what? THREE HOURS? Lawd. Ok. Here we go.

We pick back up with Peter and Rachel crying before their fantasy date. She’s saying things like “I was still trying to ride ride it through” and “I was starting to see cracks…” All this talking about their relationship in past tense is giving me anxiety. Because although I’m really done with all three of them, I secretly am still rooting for Peter.

Rachel says she’s scarred from her previous 5-year relationship never got out of a “boyfriend/girlfriend” stage and I’m wondering why she’s comparing that to her 8 week non-exclusive relationship with Peter but… Ok.

The fact that she’s fighting for him to me says she really cares about him. No way she’s be sticking around and begging for Eric or even Bryan I don’t think.

She says they need more time together to sort things out so they have an overnight date.

Why is their fantasy sweet look like something out of the tiny house special?

Next she goes out with Bryan and brings Peter with them–In her mind that is. She’s totally not there and it’s the first time Bryan’s smolder isn’t working on her and he’s not sure how to take that. They have their overnight date and I’m trying to convince myself that Bryan is an ok guy just in case she chooses him.

Finally at the rose ceremony and Rachel is channeling her inner Cersei Lannister with her dress. She’s staring down Peter as she straight up says “I want a proposal. I didn’t come here to date I came here to cultivate a relationship that’s moving towards the common goal of marriage.”

Right then and there I thought Peter was in trouble but she sends Eric home. He’s extremely gracious and even comes out on stage lookin fly with his full beard and tailored suit. Very mature, gracious and I think prepping himself well for a chance as The Bachelor and I wouldn’t hate that.

Next she goes on her last one-on-one with Bryan and I’m gagging and eye rolling through all of their lip smacking. And why does he have to grab her face every time they kiss?

Fast forward.

Next it’s time for Rachel’s date with Peter and she’s nervous and anxious and so am I. They are still hung up over the proposal.

They meet with some monks, say their I love yous and  share beautiful hugs and honest conversations like umm… Any NORMAL couple.

Peter says he only wants to propose once. Yet Rachel can’t say that he’s for sure the one person she wants to spend the rest of her life with. WHAT?

Rachel shows up at Peter’s room to confront him one last time and says how confused she is.

“I want to get engaged tomorrow.”

“I want to get engaged… But not tomorrow.”

“Well it’s gotta be tomorrow.”

“Well, settle for mediocrity then…”

Then Peter starts to change his tune and says he’ll make that sacrifice for her because she’s the right person, though it may not be the right time.

“Losing you hurts more.”

But Rachel goes back and says no no no… He wants him to MEAN it.

DANGIT WOMAN! He just told you he wants to go on a few more dates first.

They decide to go their seperate ways but they can’t say goodbye. They’re crying, I’m crying. We aren’t ready to say goodbye.

I can honestly say I am WAY too invested in this show and a little embarrassed at my life at this moment.

I’m waiting for Chris Harrison to surprise us all with the biggest fakeout in Bachelor history. But instead Peter comes out and Rachel is locked and loaded with a bag full of salty chips.

I do think it’s lame that Peter came on a show where the end game is a proposal and he couldn’t propose. But at the same time I don’t understand why she was willing to give up everything they had because he wasn’t ready to give her a ring TOMORROW.

Rachel was savage. Throwing water all over any idea of him being The Bachelor.

“This process isn’t for you.”

Really? Why so salty?

And then “Yea I’m not living a mediocre life, I’m living my best life!” Right after he sincerely apologized.

Ok girl, you tell yourself that but to me it looks like you’re trying a little too hard to prove that to everyone. And I mean sheesh, talk about kicking a guy while he’s down.

And the way she’s like “Stay true to who you are… that’s a beautiful thing…” in an overly, bubbly fake positive tone is further proof she is likely bitter/ regretting her decision.

Girl bye.

That goodbye had more passion than anything else we saw on that show, including the proposal, just a day later, which I’ll just recap with a single video that is actual footage of my reaction:

“When we first kissed it was like a chemistry bomb had just exploded…”

I missed it the first time because of the hurricane that was blowing through their microphones. I didn’t believe it until my friend quoted him and I re-watched it. Lawd! If he really is 100% serious that just means he’s hella corny.

Bryan got down on one knee and put a ring on it just like Rachel had been waiting for. And man, I had such high hopes at the beginning of the season.

I’m sorry, it’s just hard to believe that would have ended any other way had Peter been planning to propose. Which in turn makes me feel like she completely settled in order to get engaged right then and there. Which yes– Is kinda the point of the show but… but… but… She and Peter just had so much going for them. It seemed so much more sincere.

I’ve spend the last few hours split between writing this recap, lamenting with friends through text and and strangers on twitter who are miserable about this outcome right along with me. Their memes gave me life while I lost my last hope for breaking news that Rachel changed her mind.

Chris Harrison: When did you know?

Rachel: Ummm. Hometowns?

Reality: As soon as Peter and I broke up.

I really do wish them all the best. But man, when they talked about taking it slow and not rushing into marriage but get to know each other + possibly moving to LA, I was back to

Jimmy Kimmel summed it up best when he said that Peter acknowledged how preposterous it is to get engaged to someone you’ve only been on three dates with while she was dating other people.

“He said I want to be with you I just don’t want to propose yet because I take a marriage proposal too seriously, which is the right way to take it but Rachel said sorry, I’m looking for a marriage proposal right now on TV. And so that was that… Relationship over.”

I’m still sad it’s over between them, but I’m going to try to be happy for my girl, and wish them the very best. I didn’t like Bryan from the beginning, but I’m hopeful that it’ll work out for them and that maybe he just came across as extremely fake on TV.

Kaitlyn Bristowe gave her some great advice on instagram and I hope they take it, and I really do hope they’re happy. I’m trying not to be a hater but I mean… Rachel did seem a bit bitter. And you aren’t bitter if those feelings are all gone and you’re sincerely happy about the relationship you’re in.

And hey, maybe Peter will be the next Bachelor. As of now, he’s my pick (though I wouldn’t mind Eric or Kenny or maybe Dean).

Either way, like T.J. Holmes I think this was my first and last time recapping this show.

What did you think of the Bachelorette finale?

So, I had all these plans to watch The Bachelorette on my flight to New York on Monday. I had an evening flight and knew we’d be in the air just before it started. I started browsing the channels before we took off and WHAT? No ABC!

So here I am, recapping the show a day and a half late. I stayed off twitter and avoided spoilers only to realize it was a DANG CLIFFHANGER anyway!

Alright so let’s jump into the guys meeting her family.

Eric could not have said less enthusiastically “Wow, this is going to be… Interesting.”

Yes, yes it is.

The bachelorette season 13 episode 9 recap

Rachel has to choose between a dork, an uncommitted, and a phony. And her family feels exactly the way I feel about each of them.

Peter Meets the Fam

Last week Peter said he wasn’t sure he’d be ready for en engagement at the end so naturally they go shopping for baby clothes on their date today. Mmmk. Despite the awkward situation they seem just ordinary and comfortable together. Peter seems to be REALLY good at reading her. But I’m still salty about last week.

Before walking in to meet her family Peter clarifies that he is in fact, falling in love with her.

Rachel says she’s falling in love with him too, which as we saw last week, means absolutely nothing and she might send your butt right home.

But then he surprises us all and tells her family how he’s feeling at the dining room table and I melt.

Her family seemed to love him, Rachel’s cousin even nicknamed “winner”, and Rachel and Peter both had the sweet puppy eyes as he left.

And just like that I’m back on #TeamPachel… For now.

Ok, can we talk about how awkward it is that her final three are in a hotel together right now? It’s obviously serious with them all and this is just not a healthy situation.

Eric Meets the Fam

Eric is next up to meet the fam. On his date with Rachel and he’s clearly nervous. Rachel is trying to make him feel better and giving him tips for talking to her family. He asks what she sees in him and she laughs and says “you’re alright!”

Every time they’re together their “relationship builds” but I get the feeling it’s not building at the level or pace as the others. Anyway… On to meeting the family.

He meets them and does better that I expected but the family just seems to be thinking what I’m thinking… “That’s it?”

Eric feels comfortable and welcomed into the family. But his sister calls exactly what I’ve been thinking.

“I’m listening to Eric talk as we meet him, I’m watching Rachel reaction, watching the interacting and comparing it to what she had with Peter and I’m thinking ‘I don’t know if they are on the same playing field as far as ‘relationship-wise.”

Rachel’s cousin calls Eric sweet and sincere like she called Peter but we didn’t get to hear her elaborate. I imagine they cut out all of the “We like him, but not as much as Peter” conversations. They all *like* Eric but don’t see him as THE ONE for Rachel. And I agree.

Peter throws shade.

“So is that the matching watch?”

OH SNAP! Dang girl, you couldn’t wait to put it on until you were away from the other guys?

Bryan Meets the Fam

Bryan is going in saying he expects Rachel’s family to be impressed. And Peter calls him a Miami guy with swagger.

Why does he seem like he’s trying to win a game? THIS IS WHY I DON’T LIKE YOU.

He wins Rachel’s friends over with his swagger and Rachel admits she thought he was a douchebag at first. The rest of American still does.

Bryan calls his mom the number one woman in his life always and ALL the red flags for up.

Mayday, mayday!

Rachel’s mom hears that too and calls him out and asks for clarity… She wants to make sure that he will put Rachel above his mom if they bump heads. Then her brother in law starts to fire off about sincerity and basically they are calling him on all the questions I have.

In Spain Eric annoys me first. Rachel doesn’t beam over Eric. And she keeps acting him to articulate WHY he loves her. I think she’s expecting swoony-Bryan answers and she’d just not going to get that from Eric. I want to like him but he just seems like he has a lot of growing up to do and isn’t husband material nor on her level.

Also, every time he says “no more” instead of “any more” I correct my television. I know he can’t hear me but it’s habit. I do it to my kids too and I’d do it to my husband. So if Eric were my husband I’d be spending much of my days correcting his grammar. I imagine that would get old for both of us fairly quickly.

Eric is sweet, he’s cute, but he’s a bit of a dork. I’d be ok with him being the next Bachelor and correcting my TV all season.

Peter and Rachel meet at a vineyard and get their own wine locker/jail cell thing.

Peter once again tells her he’s not sure he can get engaged at the end of this and while I love his honesty I’m annoyed at what else he wants. Are you just not that into her?

I think there are one of two things going on. 1. He is about as into a Rachel as the rest of them all, but not drinking the TV/ extravagant vacation coolaid that is making the other two seem more into her than they really are. He’s being realistic.

Or 2. If Peter isn’t 100% into her while in an faraway romantic place then will he even be once it’s all over? Probably not. Which is why I’ve come to the conclusion that she should pick…

Hit that panic button then press and hold reset, Rachel needs a better batch than this. I think she sent some guys home too early and kept others way too late (hello, Lee?!)

Despite my annoyance with all three of them, the sexiness and down-to-earth feel of Peter cancels out enough of my annoyance to makes me like him the most either as the one with her or as the next Bachelor.

But based on the cliffhanger I’m thinking It goes from 2 to 1 pretty quickly. Maybe she sends Eric and Peter home at the rose ceremony.

Who are you liking right now?

PS: What is it with this “falling in love” talk? I mean, what does that even mean? Is it a cop-out way of saying I love you without having to actually say I love you?

In my years of watching The Bachelor franchise I can not recall a more diverse or emotional set of hometown dates. I felt like we got deep. We saw a lot of raw emotions and completely different types of families.

I put my kids to bed, poured a glass of bubbly water and sat down to enjoy my weekly indulgence of dramatic TV. Let’s discuss.

Going into the episode I felt like Peter and Bryan were frontrunners, coming out I felt completely different.

Eric’s Hometown (Baltimore)

We kick it off with Eric. She jumps into his arms and snuggles him which makes me smile because I feel like we haven’t seem much chemistry between them yet. Especially not compared to what we see with Peter and Bryan.

Rachel is doing two things I can’t do to save my life: Play ball and wearing heels. And at the same time!

Rachel is nervous to be the first girl Eric has brought home and I’m thinking it’s probably because she knows she’s getting ready to break his heart. But she walks in the door and immediately feels at home. You can see it. And their little couch dance party seriously gives me life.

I may not be in love with Eric yet, but I’ve totally fallen for his family.

Eric’s aunt sits Rachel down for a heart-to-heart and cuts to the chase and get to the race questions. Two black women having a chat and I feel like they can understand each other. There’s a comfort there. Rachel says it’s hard because she’s making two groups of people angry in this process. Eric’s aunt seems to understand and admires her for following her heart.

I want Eric’s aunt to be my BFF.

And get this, I tweet that and then she TWEETS ME BACK! Night made!

In the other room Eric and his mom are having a real heart-to-heart. She’s says the reason she didn’t give him all of the love he was craving growing up is because she wanted him to grow up and be a man, and find love outside of his relationship with his mother. On one hand I’m like *ouch* but then ten minutes later at Bryan’s hometown I’m like “ok I get it.”

Eric says he loves Rachel, and that means he really cares about her. Rachel is nodding and smiling and seems a little confused by this clarification. Ok maybe I am too. I feel like she’s into him but not on the same level as a couple of the other guys. And the contrast seems to become glaringly obvious when she goes to Miami.

Bryan’s Hometown (Miami)

This is Bryan’s chance to win me over because so far all I see is blah blah blah… smooth talk… blah blah blah… I’m a player. Will he be a different person around his family? Or is that just a part of who he is?

They go to play dominoes and it’s evident Rachel doesn’t know a lick of Spanish. I don’t know a lick of dominos so I can’t tell what’s going on or who is winning.

Is it just me or are the flowers for Bryan’s mom WAY bigger than the bouquet for Eric’s mom. I’m trying not to throw shade but I notice.

THE BACHELORETTE - "Episode 1308" - Rachel has traveled to romantic locations around the globe in her search to find her soul mate. Now, after adventures in Copenhagen, Oslo and Geneva, she returns to the United States to more uncharted territories: the four hometowns of Eric, Bryan, Peter and Dean. Her spirit and resilience is about to be tested by the men and their loved ones, as she tries to figure out how and why she is falling in love with more than one man at a time. Are all these bachelors marriage material? Rachel will try to find out from the people who know them best, as she moves closer to making her fairytale come true, on "The Bachelorette," MONDAY, JULY 17 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. Then it takes two seconds for Bryan’s mom and was it is sister (I thought he was an only child?) to go off about blood is blood, “I’m the mother!” plus throw out some death threats followed by a nervous laugh and I get why Rachel trying to kiss up to her.

For the first time in forever Bryan is starting to win me over but his mom is making me want to tell Rachel to run like hell. Girl, she is gonna make your life a nightmare! The last thing you want is an overbearing mother in law. (I’m not speaking from experience, mine is awesome!).

They keep saying Bryan’s last girlfriend wanted him all to herself and didn’t like the family and I’m all “Gee… I wonder why?!”

10 points to Bryan for saying he loves her, and seeming more genuine than I’ve seen him. But your overbearing mama just set you back 10 points. I’m sorry, do not pass go, you’re back to square one.

Hot Peter’s hometown (Madison)

Hot Peter is up next. The hometown I’ve been waiting for. I’m so excited for this because he’s been my favorite for weeks now. But I’m not gonna lie, his breakdown last week about his ex is making me wonder if he’s really over her.

Peter brings Rachel to meet a couple of his friends also in interracial relationships. Is he trying to get into their club?… But they play it cool. Peter confides in his boys about really knowing if she’s the one, and being unsure about a proposal at the end of this. The kind of questions he’s asking his friends make me wonder if he is even really into her.

All the other guys are professing their love and Peter is like “she aight.” Nah Peter, Rachel is the greatest good you’re ever gonna get.

Rachel and Peter go to meet his family and the two of them have the most awkward seating arrangement on the sectional couch, an armrest stuck between the two of them. But Peter joking and playing with his niece is literally the cutest thing I’ve seen all night.

I kept waiting for the fireworks to start flying again, for the deeper connection to kick in. For Peter to profess his love for this amazing woman. Instead we get: “I’m very happy.”

Well then.

Probably wasn’t the romantic goodbye Rachel was hoping for from Peter but, I’m hoping she keeps him around to see if there’s still a chance… But my salty side is saying I’d be fine if she sent his ungrateful butt home.

Baby Dean’s hometown (Aspen)

After a morning of four wheeling, Baby Dean is legitimately terrified and I’m sincerely feeling for him. I caught a glimpse of Dean’s Instagram post asking for people to be sensitive to what they see and so I look past the turban and the beard, and his wife, and missing table, the pillows, and the gong and I take it all in with open mindedness.

The bachelorette season 13 episode 8 recap

It starts out sweet, but things get emotional fast. When Rachel talks to Dean’s sister and he talks about how strong he is I lose it. I’m a mess. And I’m in love with Dean and the maturity he’s shown through all of this. I’m officially #TeamDean despite his lame-A pickup line and the fact that he’s a baby.

The next 15 minutes has nothing to do with Rachel and Dean, and everything to do with Dean and his dad. It’s personal and it’s uncomfortable. I don’t even really know what to say about that. Except that I wish that didn’t have to play out on national television, and I wish I could give him a hug.

I’m not crying. You’re crying. We’re all crying.

Rachel tries to talk to Dean’s dad but it doesn’t go well. Things are crumbling quickly.

The bachelorette season 13 episode 8 recap

Rachel comes in and consoles Dean and he tells her he’s falling in love with her. Then SHE says she’s falling in love with him too. And my jaw drops. I can’t help but wonder if that’s her trying to console him. I mean when things get emotional stuff just comes out and Dean was in a rough and very vulnerable place. So many questions but I’m feelin this and them in this moment.

Five minutes later that moment is over and Rachel’s conversation with Chris hits the nail on the head. Dean is young and navigating a ton of emotions. He says he’s in love with Rachel but she’s not sure he really knows what he wants right now.

Still though, I thought she’d keep him and send Eric home. When Eric got the second rose I’m seriously surprised. Peter is on my crap list and Dean is still a baby. But I mean… She said she was falling for him too!

Dean gets the boot and I’m heartbroken for him. But only for a second cause I know he’s on Bachelor in Paradise. Maybe he’ll keep his promise to never go back and hook up with Jasmine.

My predictions

Eric: I am appreciating so many things about Eric right now. For one, he says he’s had a rough upbringing. Despite that he’s a “cool square” and was a straight-A student (that can’t spell) and driven. I admire that a lot.

Then, his journey with Rachel hasn’t been all rainbows and roses with this relationship. Rachel even says they “challenge each other.” I get a sense that you pretty much get what you get with him, and there isn’t going to be a huge shift in personality once the cameras turn off.

I like that he’s all in and I LOVE his family.

Peter: I’m mad at you right now, but you’re still so fine. Get with it. Realize Rachel is the one and tell her, before it’s too late.

Bryan: I’m finally starting to like you but your family is ruining it. Get it together and tell your mama to back off so you can possibly have a future.

At this point honestly I’m not feeling ANY of these guys for Rachel. I am wishing we could have seen more of Anthony or even Diggy, and I’m so curious about some of the guys that got booted before idiot Lee.

I’d like to see Eric or Peter as the Bachelor if they don’t win. Though Bryan is growing on me it’s too little too late and I don’t want him to win or see him as The Bachelor.

What did you think of hometowns and the guys who are left?

We enter this episode with the understanding that this has got to have the most anticlimactic ending.

We have Peter, Bryan, Eric, and two guys who have gotten no air time.

Bachelorette season 13 episode 7 recap

Photo: ABC

Rachel is going to have three one-on-one’s and a group date. Bryan is up for the first one-on-one (the other guys moan too).

Bryan’s date

America is annoyed but I’m trying to stay optimistic–Hopeful that maybe, just maybe, we’ll hear an actual conversation between the two of them. I mean something other than “This is so great, we’re so perfect together.”

Date starts.

Bryan: “I feel so lucky, we’re so great together!”

Me: *Throws food at TV*

AHHH! I’m searching for some substanance but coming up with nothing. He’s got more lines than Gollom’s face.

Dean is back at the penthouse speaking truth again “He lives in Miami and has spent the last 18+ years swooning women.”

Ok, I’m going to stop calling you baby face now cause you are calling everyone out. First Lee, now Bryan. I’m giving you a pass.

Bryan and Rachel come up for air and she finally asks a question so we can try to get to know this guy.

“I want to know about your background.”

He briefly answers then deflects to her asking about her schoolgirl uniform. Really? She was 10! You are gross.

Though he keeps saying “it’s a fairy tale, so perfect” he tells her about his past relationship and how it didn’t work. He blames that on his mom. But in the same breath says he can’t wait to bring her home. Good luck Rachel!

She gives him the rose and I’m throwing up a little in my mouth as they make out and I’m so glad this date is over.

Dean’s Date

Dean is up next. Normally he’s all cute and spunky but today he’s got the look of death as he dwells on the idea of bringing Rachel home.

“My family isn’t a traditional family.”

I’m wondering what he’s hiding. Are they a family of vampires? Werewolves? Racists? Why is he so scared?

Instead decides to show her how young he really is. “Do you believe in the tooth fairy?”

Rachel flat out says she wants to get to know each other, and of course the logical response is to ask is “What’s your favorite dinosaur?”

Back at the house the guys are sweating about that last one-on-one. Peter gets it and I’m jumping up and down.

Back on the date Dean finally spills the beans about his concerns with his family and potential hometowns and now I feel bad about calling them vampires. They’re a little dysfunctional but it’s all good. She gives him the rose and I’m now most excited to see his “eccentric” family after all this hype.

Peter’s Date

It’s hard to tell if I really like Peter because he is genuinely leagues above the rest, or if the others just aren’t that great.

On his date he opens up about his jealousy watching her date the other guys, asking her what her favorite part of the experience was. Why aren’t you asking these questions, Bryan?!?!

They just look so CUTE together. He covering his eyes when they’re coming down in the helicopter, snuggling on the sled. It seems so natural.

Rachel is trying to have a serious conversation but you can see she’s freezing her butt off. Doesn’t ABC know black people don’t do cold weather?!

They finally get inside and I realize I have three blankets on and I turned off the A/C.

Peter is saying how excited he is to bring her home to meet his family. He knows they’ll love her, again Rachel asks if they’ll be accepting of a black girl and I want to roll my eyes because this girl is the catch and should not be worried about these things. But also, I get it because sadly, with how the world works it’s an understandable question.

Peter opens up about his last relationship and breaks down discussing the breakup. ABC think they slick editing those lines about him making her cry in the previews. I see you!

“Peter’s hometown could be my hometown.”

Back at the house the guys get a date card and Dean reads it like they don’t already know who’s names are on it.

Adam is like “I’m taking her home to my parent’s house” which instantly to me says “he’s going home.”

Back to Peter–The reason I’m still watching:

“Any more questions that you have? Concerns?” Two questions you’ve never heard from Bryan’s mouth.

He gets a rose and I’m all giddy.

3 on 1 date

On the group date I already know Adam is going to go home because he’s way too confident. It’s just a matter of when. When Matt gets a tearful goodbye I realized I, and the rest of America must have missed a ton of his storyline because I have no idea why she’s so sad about it.

She’s down to two guys, Eric and Adam and she says she had no idea who she’s going to choose. Really? It’s that close? She must REALLY not like Eric as much as I thought she did.

So the four remaining guys are decent. Perhaps not who I would have picked for her if more were still standing. But hey, at least we know their names.

Peter is still my frontrunner. Eric is growing on me but he’d really have to blow me out of the water to switch to #teameric. He seems nice enough but it’s hard for me to forget his immature moments earlier this season. Besides, in the outtakes you hear Rachel and Peter discussing pooping with the door open. If that’s not true love I don’t know what is!

What did you think of the dates this week?

This week was extra special because I got to tuck the kids into bed on time not once but TWICE to watch The Bachelorette. Self-care is important ladies and sometimes you’ve just gotta out your feet up and indulge in some reality TV.

So much drama this week. A racist has taken over the plot and black guys are dropping like flies. Let’s dive right in to The Bachelorette season 13 episode 5 and 6 recap!

Previously on the bachelorette… Jealousy… Ego… And racism! The gloves came off and … Dun dun dun. I’m combining Monday and Tuesday’s episodes but I’m flying through the first one because revisiting and lingering on Lee’s time on the show is just too triggering.

Photo via ABC

I have no idea what Lee is doing on this show, how he’s possibly lasted so long (I’m assuming producers and show-planners had something to do with this). But he has gotta go.

All I hear from Bryan is “womp womp womp… I want to win!” Rachel’s “overly charming” red flag just seems spot on to me. I’m not convinced.

Kenny is killing the passive aggressive one liners “Let me whisper it so you’re not threatened… ‘Your a b*tch!’”

Jack: I’m so freaking happy, I love hanging out with her.
Rachel: Help me help me help me!

Will is tryna get a racist to be woke but that’s just not happening. Lee isn’t even trying to listen. I found actual footage from that conversation:

Will: There is a long standing history in this country regarding black men in America as ‘aggressive’ to justify a lot of other things.
Lee: So he’s trying to play the race card?
Me: *Facepalm*
Kenny: He’s reptiLEEAN he’s a LEEzard.

Ok, he’s finally starting to win me over..

Nope nevermind.

Eric is mad Rachel is dumping brothas left and right. Anthony is all “you have to build that trust”…

Later Bryan is pumping up Kenny before his 2 on 1, and it’s the first time I for real for real kinda like Bryan.

Rachel: Peter notices things about me that no one else does.

Girl, that is your man!!

Peter: Let’s stop kissing so we can talk

After all the hotness in the hot tub Will get the rose and Peter doubts himself.

I’m not gonna lie, the previews for this episode had me worried Kenny went home right along with Lee after Lee took a swing. I was trying not to fall for it, especially cause Kenny wasn’t wearing white, but still, I was scurred. Totally fell for it. I waited half the season for a scuffle at a Viking reenactment.

I knew racist Lee wasn’t sticking around, so I was glad when Rachel sent him home with quick.

But then Kenny had to leave her stranded in the helicopter to have one final say. I was screaming at my TV telling him to take a page out of Elsa’s playbook. “KENNY LET IT GO!”

Rachael felt dumb, Kenny looked dumb, and American thought the whole situation was dumb.

Anyway, Kenny calls his baby girl and gets worked up and teddybear Kenny seems to have made a comeback. For now.

Josiah says “My confidence is at an all-time high!” which to me means Josiah is most definitely going home. I was really liking him but his cockiness worked my nerves this week. I didn’t like how he said he’s competitive… He seemed in it to win it. Not to be with Rachel.

I’m not shocked Josiah is outta there but I am surprised that Matt got the last rose. Matt who? I didn’t like Josiah but he had a point about the guys she kept. She shoulda kept Anthony. Their one on one date was boring but he seemed cooler than some of these other dudes.

Eric is keeping tally of how many black guys are left. I think we’re down to three. Thanks Eric.

Eric finally gets the one-on-one he’s been waiting for and he’s like an adorable excited little puppy. Boat ride, amusement park, delicious food. This is the best day of his life. Even I’m jealous of their date!

Then they sit down and Eric opens up and pours his heart out about his past and suddenly I don’t know what’s happening to me. I find myself on #TeamEric.

The guys duke it out in the Viking Olympics and I’m rooting for Kenny. Poor guy thought he was going to get a 1 on 1 after the 2 on 1 but honey shoulda known it don’t work that way.

I was glad he won the Viking crown but it doesn’t matter cause it was so obvious Rachel wasn’t feeling either of them.

Later that evening Bryan steals her away first and it becomes very clear how much stronger her chemistry is with him and Peter than anyone else.*Lightyears* ahead. But I can’t stand Bryan and I’m getting more and more scared that he’s going to win this thing.

I lose it when Rachel asks Bryan if he thinks his family will accept her. WHAT? Girl, you are a CATCH and what you should be wondering is if your family is going to accept his smooth talking fake arse.

No, I’m not buying what he’s selling. I still don’t like him.

You know what? I think he reminds me of Juan Pablo. Smooth talkin, slick and phoney. Is it just me? Tell me it’s not just me!

Kenny is getting in his own head and we can see the writing on the wall. He’s gotta go home. I’m sad because I had such high hopes in the beginning. #Kennyforthebachelor

Peter gets the group date rose and I’m thrilled cause he’s still my favorite. I don’t even care who else gets a rose cause the rest are dweebs. At this point I just like Peter and Eric and they both are safe.

Oh yea, I forgot this date was coming. And I woulda forgot to put it in here it was so boring, at least until the end when interracial dating drama came up again.

Will seems to be scared out of his mind for this date and we’re all beginning to wonder if it’s because he hasn’t dated black women. Will, we’re not that scary, I swear! You can kiss her!

He tells her he hasn’t really dated black women which translates to “I’ve never dated a black woman.” His excuse: “I grew up in a predominantly white area…” Rachel is low key savage and is all “Yea, me too but I dated mostly black guys…”

Back at the house Eric reveals this tidbit to all the white guys. Dean is like “so what?” But Eric schools him on how for a white dude, it’s not be a big deal but for a black dude… A sista might have some questions. The guys nod and don’t say much else. A good move. Seriously, America wasn’t ready for all this!

Then Will opens up about being an extreme passionate person and Rachel is like *screech* “oh hail nah, I aint seen that!”

She’s salty, sends his butt home. And I can’t say I blame her. I had high hopes for him too. And then there was one.

Alex goes home and I’m shocked cause I still don’t even know some of names of the guys she’s keeping around. Adam. Really? And that other tall lanky boring dude that’s unattractive? WHY?

At this point it’s clearly between Bryan, Peter and Eric. I think that’s her order of preference though mine is Peter, Eric then Bryan after the tall lanky dude that’s unattractive.

This moment with Dean still gives me butterflies but I’m gonna stop trying to make Dean happen, it’s not happening.

bachelorette rachel and dean

Previews got me worried about drama between my boyfriend and Rachel but I hope they make it through.

If Peter doesn’t win I hope he’s the next Bachelor. He’s pretty boring but looking at him will make up for that. Unless Eric doesn’t win either. Then it’s a tossup. No, it’s not. Worst case scenario Eric wins and Bryan becomes The Bachelor and I’m left with no more Peter in my life. I’d be ok with Kenny being The Bachelor too but I have a hard time seeing that coming.

Who is your favorite? Are you surprised Alex went home?

Bachelorette last night… You guys!

So I passed out last night and didn’t manage to wake back up to draft this post so I’m going to just jump back in based on what I was responding to in my tweets and what stood out to me. Basically three things: Cocktail party drama, cutie baby face Dean, and a rigged spelling bee. But I’m going to mostly just focus on the first part.

Cocktail Party

Right out the gate we have drama when Kenny is trying to talk to Rachel and Lee comes up and tries to interrupt.

“Can I get like 60 more seconds?” Kenny asks. He’s in the middle of talking about something other than his daughter, he’s finally getting somewhere.

“Yea I’ll give you 16 seconds!” Lee says. And he means it. He hovers over to the side and starts counting on his fingers. And I’m already tired of Lee and his face 16 seconds into the show, but this is just the beginning.

ABC has been cutting up the episodes so it seems like there hasn’t been a rose ceremony in 12 years. Last week Lee was having some drama with the guys, he already got to talk to Rachel, and Kenny gets upset. He pulls Lee aside and Lee is just egging him on with a sarcastic smile and laugh.

“I get tickled when I smile at an angry man!” Goodness… I have so much I could say about that.

Kenny gets louder and louder and Rachel is talking to some other guy, all I remember about him is his ears, and she is like “Waitaminute… That’s Kenny?!” Teddy Bear Kenny? Say it aint so!

She starts melting down. But don’t forget, this is the same night Lee came to her about Eric.

“Damn right I enjoy pissing him off” “I’m going to have a problem with some of these guys” “I don’t have a problem with you guys…”

Dean, Mr. I’ve gone black and not going back sees that Lee is racist and is trying to say it without saying it.

“The only people I’ve seen Lee pick fights with are not people he is used to seeing on a daily basis from a cultural perspective… You know exactly what I mean. The longer Lee sticks around the more aware everyone will be of his intolerance.”

Because in his words “I want to win.”

The pressures of being a black woman

“The pressures that I feel about being a black woman, and what that is” Rachel said through tears. “I get pressure from so many different ways, being in this position. I already know what people are going to say about me, and judge me for the decisions I’m making.”

Someone on twitter asked “Not sure why Rachel had to say ‘as a Black woman?’ Why is that relevant? No need for the racism!” This is my escape! Geez!”

Rachel Lindsay, a beautiful 32-year-old lawyer from Dallas and the first ever black lead in The Bachelor franchise.

Rachel has no idea what’s going on in the house (though I have wondered if they’d let them just review the tapes then pick a match). She’s heard or been told about two black men blowing up and she knows this is going to look some kinda way playing out on national TV. If she chooses to keep them how will that look? If she chooses to send them home, how will that look?

What kinds of things is she worried about people saying? Well, things like this I suppose, but you know my girl was ready with a clap back:

Rachel Lindsay clap back tweet about Lee

Responsibility to not uphold stereotypes while also, you know… Hopefully find your soulmate, which is already hard for black women. You’ve got everyone rooting for your happiness, some hoping you fail. I mean that’s a lot of pressure.

I’m not Rachel Lindsey but being the first in any situation isn’t easy. Being the first in a situation like this that’s playing out for the world is a whole other level of pressure.

So then we get to the rose ceremony and we’re all throwing things at the TV when she keeps Lee and sends Diggy home. I’m going to miss him and his cute bow ties. And I’m so sad that we won’t get to see more of his huge shoe collection.

One-on-one with Dene

Dean Dean Dean. He’s SO CUTE. I can’t say much more than that cause he’s a baby and I’m married and it feels wrong. Rachel isn’t married so I guess that helps her be less conflicted. He’s terrified of heights so of course she picks him for the terrifying blimp ride.

Before dinner she says she’s ready to find out if Dean is really ready for marriage. And Dean tells her his sad backstory and I’m watching and trying not to cry, and wondering how he is crying and making everyone cry and somehow still smiling. Is it his teeth? I don’t know but I’m impressed. And I want to give him a big hug.

She gives him the rose, they go and dance on stage and I’m getting butterflies for them. I’m so close to being Team Dean but I am sorry, I just can’t get past his age. I think he’d be a great option for The Bachelor and I hope he has a bunch of black girls in his mix cause you know what he said.

Group date

On the boat the guys are freestyling and I’m impressed by Kenny’s spits, and then even more surprised when Peter takes a stab at it and isn’t terrible.

Rachel surprises everyone with my worst nightmare: An impromptu spelling bee. I’m not even going to try to spell all the words they spelled cause if it weren’t for the red squiggly line under all of them I wouldn’t get it right. We knew the whole thing was rigged anyway when Josiah got “stunning” and Anthony got “boutonniere.”

Later on the date, Iggy is watching the guys getting ready to snitch like

Getting ready to tell on everybody cause that’s what he does with his time with Rachel. I CAN’T.

Rachel calls Kenny out and asks why Lee is talking smack about him “Cause he’s not truthful!”

As much as I want him to, I’m praying Kenny doesn’t lay into Lee and play into the character the world is just begging him to be. I hope he comes out as the bigger man.

Last thoughts

-Everybody has a problem with Lee but the only has a problem with the black guys. Please send him home!

-Iggy is trying to be some kind to group therapist asking questions like “What is your ideal outcome of the situation?” Sit down and stop getting in the middle of everything! Please, send him home.

– Bryan is growing on me a little though everything inside of me says player. She makes him weak in the knees? Come on!

-Let’s pick up the pace! As much as I love Rachel we’re dragging on the drama way too much and not seeing enough of the dates and conversations she’s having with the guys.

-We did not see enough of Peter, or really anyone I think she could wind up with. None of them seem right for her right now. I’m happy she announced she’s engaged cause if I didn’t know that I’d feel like this was hopeless.

-I knew this drama was bound to come up. I hope Lee goes home and we get past this soon.

Did you watch? What were your thoughts?

I promise I’m not turning my blog into a place for reality-TV recaps. In my last post I explained how Monday nights (and Thursday nights when it’s TGIT season) is a time I really cherish because I get to step away from the duties of motherhood and just veg out on some light and often ridiculous, television.

Last night I invited my husband to join me in watching The Bachelorette because it’s more fun when you have someone who can laugh with you. He asked what time it came on, and when I said 7, he replied “sure!”

I was shocked. And half expected him to change his mind or play on his phone the whole time but he was totally into it. Or into making fun of it at least.

Out of the gate he was confused, and not just because DeMario was trying to negotiate his way back into the house. Rachel was like nah… “Your way forward isn’t here.” And we we’re like tell em!!

“Wait, didn’t this episode just start?” My husband asked as the rose ceremony began.

I had to take a timeout to catch him up on the way the show works now–Leaving you in suspense for a week wondering who is going home.

Whaboom Guy and Protein Shake were arguing about a banana. Whaboom claims Protein Shake has a crush on him and was standing over him while he was sleeping, slowly eating a banana. My husband says it’s believable.

“That’s a lie!” Protein Shake told Rachel “I don’t eat carbs so I’d never be eating a banana.”

Rachel is thinking she’s had enough of this and she rids of us their drama by sending them both home.

Then they proceed to have the most petty exit that went something like this:

I’m sure making Rachel regret her decision.

First group date

I love Ellen. Who doesn’t? She asks Rachel if she’s kissed anyone yet and Rachel either forgets she’s already kissed half of them, or isn’t trying to let on. She’s talkin like she’s kissed one, meanwhile three guys backstage think she’s talking about him.

Ellen calls the men out and Bryan is all “Rachel is a good kisser”, someone else concurs to which Bryan replies “you got my sloppy seconds.” WHAT?

Ellen is like “you don’t want a guy who kisses and tells” meanwhile Peter is off to the side like “I’m not sayin nuthin!”

Then she tells the guys she’s going to have them go up into the aisles of the audience and dance for cash. Taking their shirts off is optional. The guys are all like, oh I’m embarrassed I couldn’t possibly…

They all run up into the audience of screaming women. Alex was lookin like he has way too much experience in this department. Bootie poppin all over middle-aged women. Someone call a paramedic! Pretty sure I saw one pass out.

I hardly pay attention to the other guys dancing. I mean, I rewound it once cause I was hollerin so loud I couldn’t hear the commentary. But remember my husband was watching this with me, if I rewound again he may have been suspect.

So I let it play and decided I’d watch that part again later cause I’m really curious if Peter has any moves.

Ellen interviews the guys and asks questions like “who’s kissed her?” and Fred gets all sad once he realizes he’s behind in the game and he’s totally getting friend-zoned. But he thinks he still has a chance, even though she’s called him a bad little boy about eight times now, and not in the good kind of way.

Goodbye Fred

I love my husband because he not only is watching the show with me but chiming in with commentary. He thinks Fred is staying–

Fred decides he’s gotta step up and make a move. He asks to kiss her and Rachel is like “Really? You’re going to ask me if you can kiss me?” and Fred tries to make a quick recovery and swoop in for a kiss.

“She’s not feelin it,” I say.

“What?” My husband asks. “Why don’t you think she’s feelin it?”

I point out her limp arm as Fred is pushing up on her.

Fred is hooting and hollering about this kiss that’s changed his life. A kiss with his first crush. His kiss of death.

“They’re giving him so much air time!” My husband insist. He feels bad for the guy. But with this show it’s just as likely that’s a sign of their departure.

Rachel grabs the group date rose but I’m not fooled.

Fred is all: Yoooooo! I’m about to get that group rose tho!

Rachel: You kiss like a little boy.

But seriously, ouch! Talk about false hope.

My husband is devastated. Not really, but he feels bad for the guy. He thought he had a chance with the crush of his life and his hopes and dreams were just dashed.

We only get glimpses of Peter here and there. Like seriously a 2 second clip of Rachel and him hugging which was mixed with a snippet of her hugging some other guy.

Alex gets the group date Rose. He probably deserves it, he gave his all and told the truth about peeing in the pool (though I’m convinced he lied about imagining himself sleeping with her because I mean… Those dance moves).

1 on 1 date

What was this guy’s name again? –Anthony. This was one of the most boring 1-on-1 dates I’d seen, nothing compared to last week’s. I’m just hanging out for the scenes at the house where maybe we get more glimpses of Peter and at least some remotely exciting drama.

Eric is moping around because he hasn’t seen Rachel in a few days and she’s not giving him enough attention. In my husband’s words he was “Acting like a little biatch.”

He’s whining about it and Iggy tries to step in, only making things worse.

Eric is all “This is an A and B conversation and you need to C your way out!”

2nd group date

Rachel’s homegirls walk in to greet the guys at the Bachelor Mansion and I’m looking at all of the men to see who is smiling too big. Who is really interested in Rachel and who wants to hook up with one of her girls?

Peter and Kenny don’t look too excited and that makes me happy. I’m suspect about Dean. But he’s a baby anyway and I can totally see him having some kind of bachelor romance after Rachel breaks his heart. I just fully expect him to go for Jasmine or the likes as per his promise to not go black and not go back.

The men are about to mud wrestle and Kenny is like “it’s in the bag!” Which I fully expect but then he doesn’t take the gold. Why not? I’m not sure but I think he had way more rounds than the other guy. Either that or the WWF stuff is a lot easier than it looks.

Later that night Kenny opens up about his time as a Vegas Chippendales dancer and Rachel is hardly surprised. I am though, and I have to shield my eyes a bit.

Eric opens up about his insecurities and Rachel throws Bryce and Lee under the dang bus like “They told my friends I should watch out for you?” Eric is like “say what?” Somehow redeems himself and Rachel gives him a pity rose. Or as she calls it a thank you for challenging her. This even after her friends warned her about him. It shoulda gone to Kenny.

Lee vs Eric

I don’t even know where to start with this. I don’t like Lee, I don’t like Eric either but I don’t like Lee more. Eric walks back in with his rose pinned on like

Bryce seems to let it go. Lee tells Eric he loves him to death about 17 times, but I’ve translated his passive aggressive dialect to mean “I hate you and you’re going down son! Nah, I’m about to fix this.”

Lee stirs up all kinds of mess. Iggy seemingly uses up his 1 on 1 time to complain about a fight with Eric. Diggy comes up like “My turn!” I laughed because that’s now how you strike romance–Talking trash about someone else during your alone time. Even my husband is getting annoyed by this pettiness. We both laugh when Iggy says “I think my time went really well!” Famous last words.

Lee also goes in to talk about Eric but he does it in a way that seems sincere. So she goes back and confronts Eric, asking WTF is up with all this drama. She’s regretting giving him his rose, and you can see it on his face Eric is scared. And I don’t blame him cause she’s cutting guys left and right.

But she gives him another shot. For now.

Looks like things heat up next episode as one of the previews you hear a guy say “There’s a long history of that word ‘aggressive’ when it comes to black men.” In other words the next episode is ’bout to be woke.

My favorites

I’m still into Peter. I’ll admit I liked him a lot after their date but the more I see of him and his pictures floating around on social media, the more I adore him. Something about that salt and pepper hair, that strong jawline… He’s got a George Clooney type of sexiness going on. We didn’t see enough of him this week. But it doesn’t matter. America sees. One quick Twitter search and your needs will be met with piecemeal gifs of every moment he was on the screen this week.

I still really like Dean. Young pretty boy, he’s just so adorable. And her friends like him too (I imagine for the same reasons).

Kenny. I love Kenny. He’s so sweet, he loves his daughter. He’s a giant teddy bear. What’s not to like?

Alex has grown on me. He’s hot, has a hot accent, and seems really sweet and funny. I hope we get to see more of him on a 1 on 1 date soon.

And of course the real MVP is my husband for watching it  with me. As the episode concluded with another “to be continued” my husband looked at me with eyes full of love and said “Well… That’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back.”

Cherish 365: Interracial Couple- date night-The days are long but the years are short. A project to making moments last and cherish every day.

I love you too babe. I love you too.

Why am I writing about this? Because as much as I love and cherish my family, I love and cherish Monday nights when I get to put the kids to bed a little early, pour a glass of sparkling cider, pop some popcorn and enjoy a night of cheesy TV.

Also, last night a reader commented on my last post about the show and said she appreciated reading my real unfiltered thoughts. Basically she twisted my arm and now I’m committed to writing these. Thanks Sarah!

I told ya’ll I was SO excited when Rachel Lindsay was announced as this season’s Bachelorette. I wasn’t sure I would do weekly recaps, and the first couple of weeks I was out of town and had to catch the show on DVR days late. Now? Now, I can’t stay away. My watch parties have dispersed. My sister doesn’t have cable, and I’m left swimming in my own thoughts.

Plus Rachel is the FIRST black lead in the history of this show. This is a big deal. And I want to see more diversity in the cast like we see this season. If I was ever going to do these recaps, nows the time.

I started drafting this to start of my week 3 recap and put it all into one post but after I hit 1000 words I decided this would be better broken up.

Ok really quick let me catch up on the key points of what I have been DYING to tell ya’ll. Oh first of all let me say, I’m NOT reading spoilers this year. This is a first for me since I discovered there was such a thing. I’m wanting to enjoy it for what it is (a mostly scripted and cheesy “reality” show with couples that rarely work out) and watch it play out.

On the LIVE introductions

Rachel Lindsay bachelorette live introductions recap

My thought process went something like this:

Did Chris just say live? Are they really doing this? Ok so we’re doing this…

Did Dean say “Once I go black…!??!?!?!?!?!?” Oh no he didn’t! *dies*

In all honesty I felt SO bad for him, knowing that he will never ever EVER live that down. I and the rest of America will be watching and waiting to see if he really meant what he said. I kid (kind of).

Another dude (DeMario)  proposed from the get go while apparently still having the keys to his girlfriend’s apartment in his pocket. More on that later.

And the rest aren’t memorable enough to stick out to me months later. Oh wait, I take that back. One of the guys (Blake) was really boring but later made up for it by coming in with a marching band week 1. I was totally impressed with his comeback.

On Bachelorette week 1 recap

The main things that stick out to me about this episode are…

THE BACHELORETTE - Rachel Lindsay, a fan favorite on the 21st season of ABC’s hit romance reality series “The Bachelor,” starring Nick Viall, was named as the next woman to hand out the roses and attempt to find her own happy ending when “The Bachelorette” premieres for its 13th season, MONDAY, MAY 22 (9:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Craig Sjodin) (FRONT) MILTON, BRYCE, JEDIDIAH, JACK, FRED, IGGY, RACHEL LINDSAY, KYLE, JAMEY, MICHAEL, LEE, KENNY, BLAKE E.; (MIDDLE) MATTHEW, BRYAN, PETER, JOSIAH, DEAN, GRANT, KENNETH, BLAKE K., ERIC, ROBERT; (BACK) JONATHAN, WILL, ADAM, DEMARIO, ALEX, MOHIT, LUCAS, ANTHONY, BRADY

1. Diversity! I mean woah! We’ve never seen such a spread on this show! It wasn’t just in my head though. Legit this was the most diverse cast this show has seen. I must say I hope they keep it up. And despite the Asian guy that was oh so hot, and a couple other minorities leaving on night one, it wasn’t nearly the cuts we see in previous seasons. Like a scary movie we’re usually the first to die.

2. The makeout session with the Columbian dude (was it Jack?). He is hot but TOTALLY screams player to me. Amiright?

3. Peter–willing to throw a brand new box of delicious chocolates in the fire because he assumed Rachel would like chocolate. I mean shoot, I’ll take them! Or share with the guys I mean they need something to go with all the alcohol they’re downing.

I have no obvious favorites this night, except for maybe Diggy. He seems really funny and despite my hatred for shoes I’m totally into his shoe collection and style.

I think there was a lawyer guy I liked too, let me look up his name… Josiah. I like him because he made me laugh talkin ’bout them living in a big house together. Oh, and wrestler Kenny seems SO SWEET. But if I’m being honest I don’t think Rachel is ready to be a mom to a tween just yet.

On Bachelorette week 2 recap

Ok, we are almost caught up. Highlights of last week…

OMG How have I forgot about him until now… WHABAM dude is SO ANNOYING. I know the producers probably told Rachel she needs to keep him on for ratings but homeboy is driving me nuts. I was so upset that he won the group date game, I was rooting for Kenny–Or heck, anyone but him.

Peter. Wow, Peter! You came out of nowhere. At first the date was cute with Rachel bringing her dog on the plane, and she seemed into him and whatnot. But dinner had me GIDDY! They were sitting and talking about their gap teeth like a match made in heaven. I was so confused as to who he was when the episode started but by the end I was digging him too. And let me say what REALLY made me like him? Rachel said this in her blog:

Among all the doggy fun Peter did something off camera that made me cry tears of happiness. Without telling me or anyone else he snuck away from the date to give a homeless man his sandwich. Take the rose Peter, it’s all yours. The fireworks were going off in my heart long before the real ones shot off into the desert night sky.

You can have my rose too Peter. Just don’t tell my husband.

Speaking of my husband, he’s agreed to watch the show with me now. Not only because he loves me and he owes me because of all of the golf tournaments and sports-watching I’ve endured for 12+ years…

“The bachelorette is black?” he asked. “Ok I’ll watch!” He said half jokingly. Plus I told him Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (after mistakingly calling him Karl Malone) was on this week, and that this season is already 10Xs more entertaining than the last several. Or maybe it’s just cause I’m SO into Rachel. I mean, I’d marry her. He says he’ll watch it with me tonight. We’ll see!

Anyway, back to the show

DeMario is hardly worth mentioning. His “Oh who’s dis?!” Had me rolling and hitting repeat about 6 times like– I know he didn’t just pretend like he doesn’t know her.

Girlfriend was not playing though. With the eyes and neck rollin all over the place. I’ve been tempted to google and see if this whole situation was a producer setup but again, I’m just trying to pretend like this is all real and unscripted and enjoy it for the hot mess that it is.

Then when Rachel said she needed him to get the eff out I was like…

And YAS GIRL! I felt bad for her but I thought she seemed to handle it well. It’ll be interesting to see how that conversation ends tonight night.

And finally, one more cutie I wanted to call out…

Dean… Dean Dean Dean. Mr. I’m Never Going Back. I’m falling more and more in love with this fella. I mean really, he’s SO adorable. But that’s the thing. He’s cute. Adorable. Not husband material. He’s too young and immature for Rachel. Sista is a BOSS and needs a MAN. She’s also the oldest Bachelorette lead (a year older than me) and I can’t imagine being married to a guy that young. That said, I do hope Dean makes it far though cause he is fun to look at.

On interracial relationships

Remember how they were beating that into the ground during Nick’s season? Doesn’t seem to have really come up yet. I’m kinda of hoping they’ll keep it that way and just let the romance play out as any other would. We shall see.

Welp. That’s my recap for the first few weeks. Are you watching this season of the Bachelorette too? Who’s your favorite? If not, I caught you up and now you can tune in tonight and join me! I’ll post another recap tomorrow.
